    Position Summary:

    Software Developers are generally responsible for the development, design and implementation of new or modified software products or ongoing business projects. The role will include evaluation and implementation of a variety of devops tools and applications to find best of breed solutions. The developer will also be the primary point of contact for debugging and resolving deployment issues. Successful Developers enjoy collaborating with others and have above-average communication skills. The Developer will actively participate with Scrum development teams and meetings.

    A Senior Principal Software Developer is a subject matter expert who will encourage growth areas within the position, excel at contributions on day-to-day work, and will be expected to manage large teams and high-visibility efforts for the customer.

    Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

    • Understand enterprise-level client requirements and how they translate in application features. Lead efforts to collect requirements and translate into features, providing direction to others.
    • Write complex source code to program complete enterprise-level applications within deadlines. Architect application efforts and break large applications into smaller modules that can be developed by more junior developers.
    • Perform unit and integration testing for high-visibility efforts before launch, OR manage teams who perform unit and integration testing.
    • Conduct functional and non-functional testing for enterprise-level programs, and provide direction to others to conduct testing.
    • Develop technical documents and handbooks to accurately represent large complex application design and code.
    • Execute full software development life cycle (SDLC) on large high-visibility efforts.
    • Write well-designed, testable code for enterprise-level software programs.
    • Integrate large complex software components into a fully functional software system.
    • Document and maintain software functionality for enterprise-level systems.
    • Deploy large complex programs and evaluate user feedback, OR manage teams who deploy programs.
    • Ensure compliance with project plans and industry standards on enterprise-level projects across teams.
    • Take responsibility for ensuring software is updated with latest features across enterprise systems.
    • Lead initiatives across various enterprise-level systems to manage routing patching activities and ad hoc bug fixes.
    • May be required to move 5-40 pounds.
    • May require a flexible schedule based on customer need (on-call support or rotating shifts).

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

    • Conducts requirements engineering, solutions engineering, scheduling, reliability, resiliency, services development, integration, test and evaluation, maintainability, and analysis across the National System of Geospatial-intelligence (NSG), Allied System of Geospatial-intelligence (ASG), and Federal Agencies.
    • Conducts planning, analysis/traceability of user requirements, architectures traceability, procedures, and problems to automate or improve existing systems and review cloud service capabilities, workflow, and scheduling limitations.
    • Develops solutions designs based on analysis of requirements and new technology and mentor Junior Engineers in developing these skill sets.
    • Supports the analyses and allocation of requirements to systems architecture components and executing programs.
    • Assists the Government in performing systems integration activities.
    • Assists with Analysis of Alternatives (AoAs), Course of Actions (CoAs), Trade Studies, and Engineering Assessments.
    • Assists the Government in strategic technical planning, project management, performance engineering, risk management, and interface design.
    • Ability to solve complex problems, lead a team(s), and work independently and proactively under Senior Systems Engineer supervision.
    • Creates sustainable software applications – work is estimated accurately, branching strategies are efficient, code repos are maintained, etc.
    • Works as a member of an agile scrum team and participates in regular agile ceremonies applying scrum methodologies – daily stand-up, planning, sprint reviews, demos, retrospectives.
    • Implements requirements from the product backlog.
    • Assists in writing backlog requirements/user stories.
    • Utilizes a modern DevSecOps approach in building software applications.
    • Develop and modify applications, software, services, utilities, interfaces, and IT systems that support systems and analysts.

    Skills/Qualifications:

    Required:

    • 8+ years of experience.
    • Bachelor's Degree in computer science, computer engineering, systems engineering, or any related field/major, or 6 additional years of experience in information technology.
    • Use packages as in BASH, CSS, DOS_BATCH, HTML, Java, JavaScript, PHP, PYTHON, SQL, XML, and Indexing/Search Technologies required.
    • Familiarity with DevOps development processes and Continuous Integration tools: GitLab, Jenkins, Nexus.
    • Experience working with container images and platforms (Kubernetes/Docker/OpenShift).
    • Maintain and improve existing build and deployment processes using CI/CD tools.
