    **Duties**

    ** Summary**

    **Responsibilities**

    + Plans, manages and oversees the activities of the Division of Support Services.

    + Serves as staff advisor to the District Manager/Associate District Manager for all administrative and support service programs and functions.

    + Provides leadership and coordination for budget, human resources, property/fleet, procurement, safety, maintenance, operations, hazmat, engineering, record keeping, cash receipts.

    + Performs supervisory duties in accordance with regulatory requirements in areas such as internal management controls; Safety and Occupational Health obligations; performance management; ethics, conduct and discipline; and hiring.

    + Coordinates the district's coal program.

    + Leads Field Managers and Assistant Field Managers in preparing and implementing budget plans.

    + Prepares data calls and implementation of Planning Target Allocations (PTA); Annual Work Plan; establishing and tracking workload measures; and assistance with project submissions into the Budget Proposal Submission SharePoint (BPSS).

    + Facilitates the Support Services team to solve problems and carry out the organization goals.

    + Performs personnel management functions such as selection of employees, establishing performance standards, evaluating performance, and identifying training needs.

    + Provides leadership and coordination for the civil engineering and maintenance programs. **Travel Required**

    **In addition to the time-in-grade requirements, to qualify at the GS-13 level you must meet the following:**

    **Specialized Experience:** Applicants must possess one (1) full year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 level that equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of an Assistant District Manager, Support Services. Specialized experience includes leadership and/or management experience in managing or directing one or more support services and/or natural resource programs within a natural resources management setting; experience working with an established budget system; and providing and performing personnel management principles and techniques, including supervision, evaluation, motivation, discipline, planning, and organization.

    Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

    You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement.

    Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade requirement in accordance with 5 CFR If you are a current Federal employee in the General Schedule (GS) pay plan and applying for a promotion opportunity, you must have completed a minimum of 52 weeks at the next lower grade level.

    **Physical Demands:** The work is sedentary to a degree. It is expected that the incumbent will be in the field in various capacities, including actions in support of the fire program, and that the work involves physical exertion such as walking, lifting, climbing, and stooping under field as well as office conditions.

    **Work Environment:** Work is normally performed in an office setting. Occasionally work, including overnight in primitive conditions is performed in the field. This may involve exposure to weather conditions such as extreme cold or extreme heat in addition to windy and dusty conditions. Incumbent will adhere to all safety regulations as prescribed in manual/supplements. **Education**
