    We are seeking a versatile Data Compliance Lead to spearhead our company's efforts and adherence to consumer data and privacy laws, regulations, and best practices. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of data protection principles, a proactive approach to compliance, and the ability to develop and implement effective policies and procedures.

    Responsibilities

    Collaboration with Legal Counsel
    • Collaborate and receive guidance from our outside legal counsel to ensure internal company policies and procedures and external-facing agreements with vendors and customers are in compliance with all applicable laws and best practices.
    Policy Development and Implementation:
    • Collaborate with our legal counsel to develop, update, and implement company-wide policies and procedures related to consumer data and privacy, including cookies, sensitive data, data subject access requests, DPAs, data governance, and privacy policies.
    • Ensure that all employees are aware of and trained on compliance policies.
    Risk Management and Impact Assessments
    • Develop forms and implementation strategies for data privacy impact assessments (DPIAs).
    • Identify and assess potential risks related to consumer data and privacy.
    • Develop strategies to mitigate risks and implement proactive measures to address potential issues.
    Data Mapping and Inventory
    • Maintain a comprehensive inventory of consumer data and ensure accurate data mapping.
    • Collaborate with relevant departments, such as Machine Learning, Backend Development, and DevOps, to document data flows and maintain transparency.
    Incident Response and Reporting
    • Develop and implement an incident response plan for data breaches or privacy incidents.
    • Ensure timely reporting to relevant authorities and affected individuals, as required by applicable laws.
    Vendor Management
    • Evaluate and monitor data processing activities conducted by third-party vendors.
    • Ensure that vendors comply with data protection agreements and standards.
    Audits and Monitoring
    • Conduct regular internal audits to assess compliance with data protection policies.
    • Collaborate with external auditors when necessary.
    Qualifications:
    • Bachelor's degree in law, business, information technology, or a related field.
    • Proven experience in a compliance role, preferably in the area of data protection and privacy.
    • Strong knowledge of relevant laws and regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA).
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving abilities.
    • Ability to work collaboratively and independently.
    • Familiarity with industry best practices and standards.
    • [Preferred] Certification in data protection or privacy (e.g., CIPP, CIPM, CIPT).
