    JOB RESPONSIBILITY- The Orthodontic Assistant is responsible for the day-to-day functions associated with the orthodontic operations. The Orthodontic Assistant will assist clinically and help with patient records and treatments.

    As an Orthodontic Assistant, one of the main functions of this role is to ensure new patient growth in the form of new ortho "starts" each month.

    General Requirements Include:

    • Maintaining accurate records of patients' oral health histories and treatment progress.
    • Ensuring that all orthodontic instruments and equipment are properly sterilized before each use.
    • Keeping patients' mouths dry during orthodontic procedures by using a suction hose as needed.
    • Taking intraoral X-rays of patients' mouths.
    • Taking photographs of patients' teeth to aid the Orthodontist in developing treatment plans and to document patient progress.
    • Taking digital scans and or dental molds of patients' teeth for the fabrication of customized aligners and retainers.
    • Removing and replacing wires, coil springs, donuts, and elastic bands.
    • Educating patients on proper oral hygiene practices and braces aftercare.
    • Responsible for spending time with patients seeking Orthodontic care and providing knowledge around questions related to planned treatment, corresponding fees, and financial ledgers.
    • Learn and comply with MDC's administrative procedures and follow policies listed in the employee manual to ensure consistent standards.
    • Maintain patient confidentiality through HIPAA compliance. Ensure any release of patient information is done according to the Company guidelines.

    ADDITIONAL DUTIES- Additional duties will be assigned as necessary to achieve the Company standards and goals as efficiently as possible.

    SPECIFIC SKILLS-

    · Relationship building skills- must be able to establish and maintain positive working relationships.

    · Ortho certification is a plus but not mandatory.

    Registered Dental Assistant a plus but not mandatory

    · Experience working chair-side clinically with an orthodontist

    · Must be customer service oriented and able to always communicate with a pleasant demeanor.

    · Communication- effective written and verbal communication

    · Possess excellent organizational skills- strong attention to detail, be able to multitask and perform job duties in a timely manner.

    · PC skills and be able to learn and successfully use new programs as required. Computer proficiency with OneDrive, Windows and Office is preferred; as well as experience with a fax machine, copy machine, and general office equipment.
