    Description

    Responsibilities

  • Perform month-end close processes and ensure the general ledger is up to date and accurate by reconciling accounts, reviewing account balances and posting activity, calculating and posting standard period closing journal entries and making the necessary allocations of expense to internal cost centers.
  • Responsible for understanding and performing close procedures over inventory and equipment maintenance expenses, prepaids and various other accruals.
  • Oversee the daily activities of the general ledger activities.
  • Work closely and collaboratively with other members in the accounting group and with other departments to research and resolve accounting discrepancies.
  • Collect and analyze financial data and prepare monthly internal financial reports.
  • Run reports, compile data, and research any requested transactional detail requested by senior management.
  • Create and track cost center reporting.
  • Enhance month-end close process identifying opportunities for improvement.
  • Create, implement, and maintain comprehensive accounting policy documents to improve clarity and consistency, and strengthen internal controls.
  • Interact with internal and external auditors and run reports, compile data, and research any requested transactional detail required for the annual audit.
  • Protect organization's value by keeping information confidential.
  • Participate in other projects as required.
  • Job Qualifications

    Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or similar required
  • Experience:

  • 5+ years of overall accounting experience
  • Knowledge of accounting practices and departmental processes
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office and ERP financial systems (desired SAP and Workday)
  • Experience with the general ledger and financial close processes
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Detail oriented, problem solver
  • Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures.
