- Diagnose and treat patients under scope of practice
- Provide health promotion
- Screenings
- Safety instructions
- Management of acute and chronic disease states
- Management of emergency situations and non-invasive cardiac testing, including, but not limited to:
- Procedure ordering
- New patient evaluation at the request of the physician
- Testing monitoring and evaluation
- Medication management
- Referrals for program assistance, including but not limited to authority to sign County, State and Federal Forms.
- Referrals will be made, as needed to other health care providers including physical therapy, oxygen therapy and durable medical equipment.
- Prescribe medications as authorized by the Maryland Board of Nursing and by the State of Maryland
- Whenever situations arise that goes beyond the intent of the protocols or the competence, scope of practice, or experience of the nurse practitioner(s).
- Whenever the patient's condition fails to respond to management plan within an appropriate time frame, based on the provider's clinical judgment.
- For any uncommon, unfamiliar, or unstable patient condition.
- For any patient condition which does not fit the commonly accepted diagnostic pattern for a disease/condition.
- For an unexplained physical examination, historical finding or abnormal diagnostic finding as deemed necessary by the nurse practitioner(s).
- When a patient requests.
- For all emergency situations after initial stabilizing care has been initiated.
- The nurse practitioner must be a graduate of an accepted Advanced Practice Master's Degree Program.
- Credentialed and Certified by a national agency as a Nurse Practitioner.
- Must possess a valid license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Maryland.
- Must possess a valid license to practice as a Nurse Practitioner in the State of Maryland.
- The nurse practitioner must maintain educational requirements put forth by the Maryland Board of Nursing, the Maryland Board of Medicine and the Credentialing Agency.
- Advanced cardiac life support certification and BLS certification are required.
