    Description
    Job DescriptionLONG TERM MAINTENANCE PROJECT
    • NO PER DIEMSUMMARYInspects, tests, adjusts, and repairs electric, electronic, mechanical, and pneumatic instruments and systems utilized by production and manufacturing equipment to ensure adherence to established performance levels and product quality.

    RESPONSIBILITIES
    • Inspects meters, indicators, and gauges to detect abnormal fluctuations.
    • Tests accuracy of flow meters, pressure gauges, temperature indicators, controllers, radiation counters or detectors, and other recording, indicating or controlling instruments to locate defective components in system, using test equipment, such as pressure gauges, mercury manometers, potentiometers, pulse and signal generators, oscilloscopes, transistor curve tracers, and ammeters, voltmeters, and watt meters.
    • Traces out and tests electronic solid state and vacuum tube circuitry and components to locate defective parts in analog and digital, protection, or radiation monitoring systems, using test equipment, schematics, and maintenance manuals.
    • Removes defective instruments from system, decontaminates, disassembles, and cleans instruments, and replaces defective parts, using hand tools.
    • Reassembles instruments and replaces instruments in system, using hand tools.
    • Lubricates instruments and replaces defective wiring and tubing.
    • Calibrates readings on instruments according to standards and adjusts phasing and aligns stages to ensure accuracy of recording and indicating function.
    • Records calibrations made, parts and components used, and inventory of parts on hand.
    • Prepares schematic drawings, sketches, and reports to reflect changes or alterations made in instruments.
    • Responsible for observing and complying with all safety and project rules.
    Performs other duties as required.

    Job Description:

    Instrumentation/Electrical TechnicianSUMMRY OF POSITIONPerforms routine maintenance, installation and integration of several types of process control instrumentation equipment such as transmitters, controllers, integrators, recorders, process and analytical machinery.

    Perform with tools of the trade. Knowledge and use of electrical/Instrument tools, fluke meter etc., Make repairs to electrical power, motor and motor control circuits. Must be able to effectively communicate and speak English.

    This is a non-supervisory positionOther: Works integrally with coworkers, customers and contractors.

    EXAMPLES OF WORKRoutine maintenance which includes but is not limited to the following:
    * field fault analysisdetermines if instrument has failed or if it is a process problem;* field calibration of instrumentation utilizing proper test equipment;* complete overhaul in shop environment to include component replacements, alignments and calibration to specifications of record;* repair of signal transmission facility such as tubing, wiring, etc.;* instrumentation to include pneumatic, electronic and digital equipment;* fault analysis of hardwire relay logic, motor control circuits, motor power circuits (120V to 480V 3phase) and common utility / lighting circuits;* installation of new control circuits, modification of existing instrument/electrical systems as requested, to include design, load and Implementation of new control logic;* fault analysis of PLC based systems with control logic modification if required.
    • Develops, prepares and presents recommendations and reports as requested.

    REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIESMust be a High School graduate or GED equivalent, demonstrate proficiency in both oral and written communication.

    Must have the ability to interpret schematic drawings (to component level) of pneumatic loops, hardware relay logic diagrams, PLC control programs, motor control circuit diagrams, etc.

    Must associate circuit symbols with actual components to include solid state electronics (transistors, integrated chips, resistors, capacitors, etc.) and common industrial electrical hardware (relays, contactors, starters, etc.).

    Must have good mathematical skills to include basic algebra for calculation of electrical/electronic equations.

    Must be able to install and bend electrical conduit of the various trade, size (pvc, emt, rigid) and install instrumentation tubing.

    The ability to analyze problems, identify solutions, project consequences of proposed actions and implement recommendations in support of goals. Must be able to lift and maneuver 50 pounds.
