    The primary objective of this position will be to assist the Peace Care Services Supervisor in the delivery of personal care services to the residents of Peace Village and Circle Inn via the PeaceCare Program guidelines.

    This is accomplished through executing assignments as received from the PeaceCare Services Supervisor.


    Operating within general guidelines and in accordance with the overall mission, vision and values of the organization, the incumbent will provide the personal care services as detailed in individual resident service plans, or a la carte personal care services, under the PeaceCare program and in support of the licensed staff.

    The PeaceCare Companion will be cross-trained to work in all PeaceCare activities; to provide relief, assistance and support in a variety of duties or special assignments.

    All special assignments will be scheduled, assigned and coordinated through the PeaceCare Services Supervisor.

    Qualifications and Experience

    SERVES participating PeaceCare residents according to their need and service plan, with a ready, pleasant and accommodating disposition.


    Is responsible for providing personal care services needed by each resident as specified in resident service plans or as required a la carte for health services under the direction of the PeaceCare Services Supervisor.

    Is responsible for delivering mandated Activities of Daily Living (ADL's) to participating PeaceCare residents


    The ADL's are:
    Eating

    Dressing

    Bathing

    Toileting

    Transferring

    Personal Hygiene.

    Is responsible for delivering to participating PeaceCare residents requested services including, but not limited to,

    Escort

    Laundry

    Activities

    Other services as required by the PeaceCare Services Supervisor.

    Responds to tasks as assigned by the RN/LPN Nurse on duty.

    Explains procedures and services to residents to gain cooperation, understanding and alleviate apprehension when necessary.


    May be required and will be trained to assist in Resident Services when assigned by the PeaceCare Services Supervisor to special assignments such as to assist with resident activities and programs, setting up or decorating for special events, and any and all other reasonably assigned tasks.

    Skill and experience with geriatric and/or Alzheimer's' patients is preferred.

    Ability to make sound decisions based on judgment, established guidelines and individual circumstances.

    Must speak and understand English; bi-lingual capabilities are desired.

    Must be experienced with and sensitive to the needs of the elderly and enjoy working with them.

    An empathetic, caring and patient demeanor is critical in dealing with residents, their families, other personnel and visitors.

    The ability to deal with others in a diplomatic, tactful, and confidential manner is essential.
