    The function of the EHS Manager is to set the strategy and vision of the Environmental, Health, and Safety efforts to optimize the performance in EHS initiatives that assist in achieving the status of a world class organization. Will identify, manage, direct, and audit the systems required to limit risk factors leading to environmental incidents, compliance violations, job-related injury or illness, and property damage. Develop and implement a proactive EHS strategy that will drive the organization to become an environmentally sustainable entity. The EHS Manager will develop and implement location specific policies, procedures and programs that will advance the companys Process Safety Management program. Ensure that compliance related activities such as environmental permits requirements, EHS training, are robust and maintained.

    Core Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Directs and leads the EHS team and environmental programs; develops and implements strategic plans for EHS environmental compliance and performance improvement to ensure full integration with the business and strategy and ensures consistency at all locations.
    • Responsible for maintaining company training program, and to ensure employee understanding, acceptance, and compliance with EPA, OSHA, state and local requirements and global EHS policies and procedures.
    • Conducts and manages EHS audits and benchmarking exercises for sites.
    • Develops written annual environmental and safety plans to improve the safety culture, reduce injuries, minimize environmental compliance violations, and maximize environmental stewardship and sustainability.
    • Coordinates monthly, quarterly, semi-annual and annual recordkeeping for all required company reports for all EHS. Assists in developing additional proactive metrics as required for continuous improvement.
    • Leads and/or coordinates, as required, environmental and safety incident investigations at site using proven investigation techniques. Conducts follow up audits to ensure that corrective actions are taken following an environmental or safety incident.
    • Lead risk assessment of processes utilizing industry standard tools (PHA, PRA, etc.).
    • Proactively lead implementation of PSM program.
    • Obtains air permits and other plant licenses as required.
    • Evaluate EHS impact on new products and processes.
    • Manages expenses of the EHS department.
    • Evaluate performance and develop EHS employees.
    • Manages and directs activities of EHS consultants and contractors.
    • Any other duties as assigned by the Manager.

    Qualifications:

    • Implementation of safety or environmental management systems RCMS, OSHAS 18000, and knowledge of ISO, etc.
    • Competent Training Experience.
    • Proven excellence in both written and oral communication.
    • Ability to develop and implement strategic EHS processes.
    • Proven skill in administering and managing EHS at multiple sites.
    • Computer literate and skilled in Excel, Word, and Power Point.
    • Incident investigation tools and techniques, root cause analysis, etc.

    Minimum Education/experience:

    • Bachelors degree based in Safety, Environmental or Health, Safety Management or Chemical Engineering degree preferred.
    • Certified Safety Professional, Certified Industrial Hygienist or in process to achieve certification a major plus.
    • Must have OSHA training and experience, including Process Safety Management.
    • 5+ years with progressive responsibility and experience in EHS with at least 2 years of management experience required.
    • 2+ years relevant manufacturing experience, ideally in crop protection
    • PSM (Process Safety Management)

    Physical Demands:

    Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, climb, bend and lift up to 30 pounds.

    Work Environment:

    Combination of Warehouse, Plant and Office Environment.

    Occasional exposure to elements such as odor, noise, dust, heat, cold or chemicals.

    Will be required to perform other duties as requested, directed or assigned.
