    Adjunct faculty is hired in a part-time capacity on a semester by semester basis, contingent upon the needs of the Physical Therapist Assistant program.

    The goal of the lab adjunct is to provide clinical instruction in physical therapist assistant laboratory courses through demonstration and laboratory/clinical exercises.

    Additional responsibilities will include preparing relevant teaching and lab assessment materials, engaging and advising students, timely grading course work, submitting required reports, participating in college and community responsibilities.

    Applicants must be willing to teach day labs; (9am-12pm or 1pm-4pm). Adjunct faculty will engage in general college responsibilities within and outside the division.

    Work Performed


    • Promotes effective student learning through lab activities including the use of a variety of instructional techniques designed to meet student needs, promoting active and independent learning, and promoting higher-order thinking
    • Advises students in academic matters
    • Evaluates students by a variety of means (competencies) to measure their progress in achieving course objectives and inform them in a timely manner of their progress
    • Submits requested information and required reports and forms in a timely manner
    • Maintains professional relationships with students, colleagues. and the community
    • Completes required college training, campus orientation, and meetings as needed
    • Attends PTA Program meetings
    • Attends clinical remediation meetings
    • Participate in accreditation and clinical education activities
    • Responsible for other reasonable, related duties as assigned
    Minimum Education Required Minimum Number of Years Experience Required Other Knowledge Required


    • Candidates must have the minimum of an associates degree for the physical therapist assistant; however, a Bachelor's or Masters Degree in Health, Education, or related field is preferred
    • Three years full-time experience as a physical therapist or physical therapist assistant.
    • Must provide current, unencumbered licensed in Maryland as Physical Therapist or Physical Therapist Assistant
    • Use of independent judgment, initiative, and ability to manage time
    • The ideal candidate will have community college teaching experience, experience incorporating technology effectively into classroom and/or laboratory instruction, and ability to coordinate with and mentor adjunct faculty
    • Member of the American Physical Therapy Association, preferred
