    National Cathedral School announces the search for a College Guidance Counselor as a leave replacement from August 19 until December 22, 2024. The roles include managing the essay process for 81 seniors and overseeing the college representatives' on-site visits. It is a full-time role on campus Monday through Friday from 8am to 3:45pm.

    Qualified candidates hold a bachelor's degree and have relevant experience in supporting the college search/application process from the high school or college level. In addition, candidates should demonstrate strong oral and written communication skills, as well as efficient organizational skills and the ability to work effectively with students and parents. Salaries are competitive and based on experience.

    Responsibilities of this role include:

    • Managing the essay review process (both personal statements and individual college supplements) for the entire senior class (81 students), including: brainstorming essay topics; strategizing essay content to ensure that the personal statement and supplemental essays work cohesively; editing multiple drafts and providing constructive feedback; and meeting with students to review feedback.
    • Directing 100+ visits from college representatives (mid-September through mid-November), including monitoring visit requests and college rep correspondence via Scoir and email; greeting college representatives and showing them to a meeting room with students; collecting materials for students who are unable to attend; answering general questions and referring to NCS college counselors as necessary.
