**Description**

We are currently seeking a self-motivated individual to join our team as a Surety Claim Adjuster Trainee. In this role, you will learn to investigate, analyze, negotiate and settle contract and commercial surety bonds.

What you will do:

Learn to investigate claims including initial investigation, analysis, settlement, and when applicable, denial within authority limits, time standards and company best practices.

Gain skills needed to actively solicit facts from all stakeholders, analyze bond forms and construction contracts, reviews applicable statutes, and analyzes claim submissions involving commercial and contract surety bonds.

Acquire skills needed to retain and seek advice of outside counsel or consultants to supplement investigation before responding to a demand against a bond, as needed.

Learn how to run comprehensive reporting on the status of claims to all stakeholders. This includes the preparation and presentation of reports and summaries to claims management staff.

Learn how to consult with underwriting staff on potential new and existing accounts related to bond forms, contract requirements, indemnity and collateral agreements.

The selected candidate will work in our Sarasota, FL corporate office.

Bachelors degree ( Note: Relevant, progressively responsible work experience may be substituted on a year for year basis for the required education.)

Basic knowledge of insurance claim procedures, rules, systems, and regulations.

Basic understanding of the judicial and legal systems.

Strong knowledge of construction contracts and legal terminology.

Excellent communication, negotiation, interpersonal and organizational skills.

Ability to analyze, define and solve problems; the use of good judgment and decision-making.

Basic knowledge of construction, engineering and accounting practices.

Ability to obtain a adjusters license within 180 days of hire.

Valid drivers license.

Pursuit of AFSB designation.

**Preferred**

One year of surety, legal or construction experience in surety related cases is preferred.
