    ABOUT THE IOWA BARNSTORMERS: The Iowa Barnstormers is a dynamic, locally owned, highly successful indoor football franchise that is based in Des Moines, Iowa. The team has established a strong, loyal fan base and is looking for energetic, professional, and self-motivated individuals to join their game day and community operations as part of the mascot team.

    JOB DESCRIPTION:
    Billy the Barnstormer is known throughout the Barnstormers community and is responsible for entertaining and exciting fans of all ages at every home game as well as in the Des Moines community. As Billy, the mascot must interact well with fans, be animated, and most importantly love to have fun.

    We are looking for a positive and outgoing individual or individuals to take on Billy the Barnstormer's community responsibilities throughout the year as outlined below:
    • Perform mascot duties on a part-time basis at Iowa Barnstormers home games and community appearances
    • Perform at a variety of scheduled community and team appearances throughout the year
    • Perform for social media and marketing content that will be utilized throughout the season
    • Preserve the identity of the mascot without diminishing the established Barnstormers character (body language, mannerisms, fan interaction, team representation)
    • Take proper care of all uniform and costume pieces related to Billy the Barnstormer, including proper storage

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
    • Ability to perform for hours at a time in costume while walking, standing, climbing stairs
    • Punctuality is required
    • Have a flexible schedule to be able to attend community and team events throughout the year (most take place nights and weekends)
    • Fan-friendly and outgoing; excellent interpersonal skills (especially for families and children)
    • Creative, ambitious, energetic personality while motivating the crowd
    • Willing and able to work irregular hours including weekends and nights
    • Strong non-verbal communication skills
    Previous mascot experience is helpful but not required. Candidates must be local.
