    Our client, a regional supplier of electrical-mechanical manufacturing equipment, has an immediate need for an experienced ElectricalMaintenance Mechanic , to join their winning team in Wharton.

    Our candidate of choice will repair various types of electro-mechanical equipment.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Read job cards to determine job status, work, authorizations/limitations, estimate, description of problems, and/or expected serviceability.
    • Follow all repair procedures as outlined in E/B B40816 and applicable repair plans.
    • Test electro-mechanical equipment to troubleshoot known or suspected problems using various methods.
    • Disassemble electro-mechanical equipment noting parts identification, configuration, and condition.
    • Clean electro-mechanical equipment assemblies as needed using various methods and steps, including but not limited to: parts washers, steam cleaning, glass blasting, etc.
    • Measure for or note need for replacement parts. Correctly requisition needed items from storekeeper, as approved by supervisor.
    • Replace or repair worn or defective mechanical or electro-mechanical assemblies, including but not limited to: bearings, brushes, brushholders, motor leads, gears, seals, impellers, mechanical switches, brakes, clutches, clutch rotors, tachs, fans, end shields, etc.
    • Inspect specific job purchased parts.
    • Reassemble electro-mechanical equipment and test for proper operation.
    • Operate specialized repair and testing equipment, including but not limited to: megohmeter, surge tester, HiPot tester, horizontal hydraulic press, micrometer, and other equipment as needed.
    • Observe all safety procedures and use proper protective gear (especially respiratory, eye and ear protection), in accordance with E/B B30501.
    • Lift, tighten, adjust and/or secure heavy objects in order to perform work duties.
    • Keep work area neat and clean as directed by supervisor.

    KEY REQUIREMENTS:

    • The ability to read diagrams and schematic drawings and service manuals to determine work procedures.
    • The ability to operate rigging equipment and dollies to place heavy machinery and parts.
    • The ability to fit bearings, align gears and shafts, attach motors, and connect couplings and belts to precise tolerances.
    • Skills to align and test equipment and make any necessary adjustments. A candidate must be proficient in the use of laser level and laser alignment systems.
    • Possess the complete knowledge in the use of micrometers, venire calipers, dial indicators, feeler gauges, and any other measuring devices used in the Millwright field.
    • Ability to perform predictive and operational procedures to troubleshoot or predict systemic failures.
    • Have a comprehensive background in performing repairing /replacing defective parts, service hydraulic, pneumatic, large motor, and turbine driven systems.
    • Able to be called on to do occasional welding (when not structural) and tack welding (a weld that is adequate in size to temporarily hold components in place until it can completely be welded by a welder when it is structural) and fabrication as well as maintain an inventory of replacement parts. may also be called on to install concrete for supports, motor bases, or flooring as needed.
    • Must be extremely knowledgeable with the use of slings, lifting ratings, rigging, overhead cranes and forklifts.
    • Possess and be well versed in OSHA Lockout tagout procedures and how to implement them in appropriate situations.
    • Basic mechanical assemblies using dynamic balance machine in accordance with E/B B20520.
    • Perform VPI process in accordance with E/B K20507.
    • Ability to perform winding and machining operations.
    • Assist other mechanics or other shop personnel in skilled on non-skilled duties as directed by supervisor or shop manager.
    • Perform other skilled of non-skilled duties as directed by supervisor.
