    Job Description


    The Clinical Nurse Manager will serve as the procedural abortion service and sexual reproductive services clinical nurse lead for Region 1 NYC health centers. The successful candidate will collaborate with health center managers to oversee day-to-day management of the clinical sites.


    Key Responsibilities



    • Manage nursing staff in procedural abortion and sexual reproductive health services.

    • Develop strategies to enhance clinic efficiency while preserving high-quality patient-centered care.

    • Develop staffing plans and manage nursing and clinical staff schedules.

    • Provide direct patient care and coverage for scheduled or unscheduled PTO.

    • Conduct emergency medical drills with the procedural abortion team.

    • Participate in nurse recruitment and onboarding, conduct performance evaluations, and develop performance improvement and corrective action plans.

    • Develop onboarding and training plans for new hires and facilitate re-education and training on new services.

    • Collaborate with leadership teams to develop and update policies and procedures related to nursing staff and procedural abortion care.

    • Direct the functions of the nursing department according to departmental policies and regulatory authorities.

    • Oversee stocking and preparation of procedural abortion space and clinic spaces.

    • Support and implement standards in alignment with union collective bargaining agreements.

    • Communicate and interpret policies and procedures to nursing staff and monitor staff practices and implementation.

    • Attend and participate in required leadership meetings.

    • Demonstrate knowledge of emergency procedures and direct staff in the event of a medical emergency or evacuation.

    • Work in the clinical setting during inclement weather and other staffing emergencies.

    • Ensure that care provided follows established protocols, policies, and standard practices.


    Requirements



    • Current NYS licensure as a Registered Nurse.

    • Previous experience in a nursing role with a minimum of 3-5 years in sexual and reproductive care.

    • Strong customer service skills and ability to remain focused and calm in stressful situations.

    • Proficient with electronic health record (EPIC).

    • Strong understanding of Transformational Leadership Concepts.

    • Strong foundation in evidence-based practice.

    • Knowledge of surgical care, complications, and evaluation.

    • Familiarity with principles of process improvement and change management.

    Physical Demands


    This job operates in a clinical office setting and requires sitting/standing for long periods of time. Periodic walking, bending is also required. Visual acuity sufficient to perform frequent work on a computer screen and review printed reports and other materials is necessary. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets. Ability to hear and communicate orally with others is essential.
