    Job Description: The Department of Physics is looking to bring on board an Engineer III who can effectively manage a variety of tasks. As part of the role, the individual will collaborate with fellow engineers, physicists, students, and postdoctoral researchers. Responsibilities will also include supervising and training junior engineering staff, liaising with vendors for procurement, and maintaining quality control standards.


    • Oversee Electronics Facility: Lead the efforts in supporting and developing hardware, firmware, and software for efficient decision-making and data acquisition systems. Support a high voltage system for detectors in the CMS experiment. Develop testing procedures for both new and existing equipment, ensuring optimal functionality. Contribute to the advancement of cutting-edge electronics technology for real-time experiments. Assist in cost analysis, budgeting, and generating comprehensive reports. Proactively innovate data analysis techniques to drive facility progress.
    • Training and Consultation: Provide training and consultation on specialized equipment and technology to facility users. Mentor junior engineering staff, students, and collaborate with researchers and engineers on international projects.
    • Equipment Management: Responsible for equipment oversight, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs. Work on developing marketing and strategic plans to enhance facility visibility.
    • Procurement and Quality Control: Collaborate with vendors for procurement and quality control processes.

    As the largest college on campus, the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences plays a vital role in delivering the core curriculum of the university.     Expected Salary: The salary range for this position is $68,000 - $80,000, with compensation commensurate with experience. The package includes a comprehensive benefits plan.

    Minimum Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent with eight years of relevant experience, bachelor's degree with four years of experience, or master's degree with two years of experience. Relevant coursework or vocational training can substitute.

    Preferred Qualifications: The ideal candidate should have experience in various areas related to engineering. Proficiency in designing, testing, and operating high-speed PCBs, firmware design, and familiarity with industry standards are preferred.

    • Analog design: Experience with DAC/ADC and high-voltage power supplies in the kV range.
