    Our Agency


    The Georgia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD) is the state agency that focuses solely on policies, programs, and services for people with mental health challenges, substance use disorders, intellectual and developmental disabilities, or any combination of these.

    As Georgia's public safety net, DBHDD operates six field offices and five hospitals throughout the state within three program areas:
    behavioral health, developmental disabilities and hospital services.


    Georgia Regional Hospital at Savannah (GRHS) is a state-funded multi-service facility operated by the Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities.

    The hospital provides quality care to mentally ill adults and individuals living with intellectual and developmental disabilities from its 34-county catchment area in Southeast Georgia.

    GRHS opened in December of 1970 with a design to decentralize mental health services in the state and treat people nearer to their homes and families.

    The hospital provides evaluation and treatment to clients needing care. The hospital's admitting office is a psychiatric emergency receiving facility open 24 hours a day.

    GRHS is seeking candidates for the position of Nurse Trainer working 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. full-time, 40 hours a week.

    Job Summary


    The Nurse Trainer position is pivotal to ensuring all staff training is kept on schedule and is responsible for assessing, planning and/or coordinating training sessions for DBHDD.

    Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:


    • Performs end-to-end learning and development
    • Evaluates training and learning outcomes in relation to functional and/or technical training activities
    Primary Duties & Responsibilities


    • As a team member or individually, participates in the development of conferences, instructive seminars, presentations and speeches for community and civic organizations and the general public
    • Identifies training needs, providing guidance and training to customers or less experienced staff
    • Produces videos, pictures, and photographs for use in support of training, marketing, and presentations
    • Provides related services such as scheduling of training, maintaining records, and setting up/checking training and audio-visual equipment
    • Serves as a resource in the development and implementation of outreach communication
    • May serve as a lead worker
    • May train subordinate staff in proper procedures of day-to-day operations
    • Performs job responsibilities with minimal supervision
    Preferred Qualifications


    • Registered Nurse with Bachelor's degree and Georgia License or Nurse Compact Licensure
    • Three years of experience in providing educational training or instructional services to hospital staff
    • Basic computer skills- Microsoft Office Suite with particular emphasis in creating Power Point presentations
    • Ability to become Certified Safety Care Instructor without limitations
    • Physical ability to bend, lift, twist and stand for increased amounts of time.
    • Excellent communication and presentation skills- with both small and large audiences
    • Able to travel for training purposes
    • Maintain records and computerized data bases for training purposes
