Description

Position Title: Adjunct Allied Health - Medical Terminology

Department: Academics

Campus: College Wide

Additional Information: Please note that if you are a retiree from PSERS, working as an adjunct faculty member at the College may impact your retirement benefits as per PSERS guidelines. We are specifically looking for individuals to teach medical terminology at a Pittsburgh high school, catering to high school students as part of College in High School.

General Summary: The main responsibilities of faculty members include teaching and curriculum development, staying up-to-date with advances in their field, learning theory, and pedagogy. They are expected to contribute to program development and demonstrate continuous professional growth.

Requirements: Applicants should hold certification equal to or higher than program graduates. Strong communication skills, teaching experience at post-secondary level, industry-related work experience, familiarity with industry software and systems, and accreditation from a recognized institution are expected.

Duties:

The primary duties involve teaching, curriculum development, assessment, and record-keeping.
Create engaging learning environments using various instructional methods.
Collaborate on developing and assessing learning outcomes for program reviews and curriculum updates.
Contribute to program reviews and curriculum revisions in coordination with other faculty members.
Participate in professional development activities to stay current in the field and instructional practices.
Engage in departmental, divisional, and college meetings and committees.
Contribute to college projects, surveys, and promotional materials related to the discipline or program.
Support the college's objectives.
Perform any other relevant duties as necessary.

Clearances: Prospective employees will need to provide current criminal record and child abuse clearances if offered the position. Required clearances include Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance, Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Records Check, and Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) Criminal Background Check.
