Overview:
Chestnut Health Systems is seeking a Community Outreach and Training Specialist III to support behavioral health education, outreach, and prevention initiatives. This position involves working closely with faith communities, community partners, and internal teams to deliver training, support grant-funded programs, and strengthen community capacity across Illinois. This position requires travel throughout the state and collaboration with diverse stakeholders.

Since 1973, Chestnut has grown to more than 800 committed, compassionate employees providing substance use, mental health, and primary care treatment to patients in Illinois and Missouri. We provide fully integrated care for all our patients by combining behavioral health care services with our community-based primary care health centers. Chestnut also conducts research and training throughout the U.S.A.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct outreach to faith communities and community organizations to increase awareness of behavioral health and recovery services
- Facilitate trainings and presentations using evidence-based information and best practices
- Develop, distribute, and evaluate training materials, educational resources, and outreach tools
- Collect, enter, and submit program and grant-related data, reports, and documentation accurately and on time
- Assist with identifying funding opportunities and supporting grant writing efforts
- Help develop and monitor program budgets and submit required financial reports
- Participate in community coalitions, advocacy groups, and outreach initiatives at local, state, and national levels
- Collaborate with internal teams to support program development, evaluation, and continuous improvement
- Attend meetings, trainings, and staff development activities and provide support to team members when needed
- Promote trauma-informed, recovery-oriented principles in all outreach, training, and community interactions
- Maintain confidentiality and protect organizational and client information
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Master's degree in behavioral health, public health, education, or related field with a minimum of 2 years of related experience; OR bachelor's degree in behavioral health, public health, education, or related field with a minimum of 5 years of related professional experience
- Experience in program development, needs assessment, program evaluation, and community capacity building required
- Knowledge of prevention theory and research preferred
- Experience working with faith communities preferred
- Experience with grant writing and budgeting preferred
- Ability to manage projects, work independently, and collaborate with community partners and internal teams
- Advanced computer skills required, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, videoconferencing platforms, and online reporting systems
- Strong written communication and professional documentation skills required
- Strong presentation and public speaking skills required
- Valid driver's license, private automobile insurance, and insurability required
- Reliable home internet access required
- Ability to travel to multiple locations throughout the state required
- Must be able to obtain DCFS CANTS Child Abuse Clearance

Chestnut offers a new salary structure and robust benefits

The anticipated starting pay for new hires for this position is between $44,400 - $50,575 annual salary. There are several factors taken into consideration in determining base pay, including but not limited to: job-related qualifications, skills, education, experience, local market conditions, and internal equity.
