    Description

    CONTROLLER

    CFS is partnering with a family-owned wholesale building supply distributor organization to find their next Controller. This organization has successfully built its business based on providing the highest level of professionalism, quality customer service, availability of inventory and loyalty to its employees.

    This organization is seeking a Controller. This Controller must have solid communication, technology, analytical and management skills. This Controller should possess knowledge of all aspects of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). This Controller will be reporting directly to their CFO, you will help guide and inform our financial decisions, protect their assets by enforcing their internal controls, and monitor and confirm their financial condition by conducting audits and providing information to external auditors.

    OVERVIEW OF THE CONTROLLER ROLE:

    • Planning, directing and coordinating all accounting operational functions
    • Managing the accumulation and consolidation of all financial data necessary for an accurate accounting of consolidated business results
    • Coordinating and preparing internal and external financial statements
    • Coordinating activities of external auditors
    • Providing management with information vital to the decision-making process
    • Managing the budget process
    • Assessing current accounting operations, offering recommendations for improvement and implementing new processes
    • Evaluating accounting and internal control systems
    • Evaluating the effectiveness of accounting software and supporting database, as needed
    • Developing and monitoring business performance metrics
    • Overseeing regulatory reporting, frequently including tax planning and compliance
    • Hiring, training and retaining skilled accounting staff

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE CONTROLLER ROLE:

    • 5-7+ years of relevant experience
    • Experience managing a team
    • Strong technology & analytical skills
    • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance
    • MBA or CPA are preferred but not required
    • Previous experience in public accounting is a requirement
