    Job Description

    Responsible for the development and administration of data structures, data ingestion processes, and maintenance of the data warehouse.


    The Data Engineer is responsible for the design and development of data structures and data ingestion processes and solutions based on business requirements.

    This role will be working closely with the business to gather requirements and translate into a viable solution to solve complex business challenges.

    The Data Engineer will understand various database technology platforms and data relationships to develop and enhance data ingestion processes and data structures that supply data for internal and external reporting solutions.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
    Analyze existing data ingestion processes (SSIS and stored procedures) to identify inefficiencies and areas for improvement.


    Develops queries, functions, stored procedures, data marts, and views to support reporting and data extraction, utilizing standards and best practices to ensure data accuracy and security.

    Use demonstrated experience to develop SSISI packages, workflows, and stored procedures to supply data for our reporting solutions.

    Excellent data modeling experience creating fact tables, dimensional tables, and data marts.


    Experience developing reports and dashboards using Power BI and up to date with the current version of Power BI and its capabilities.

    Experience with various database platforms and cloud technology including SQL, Azure and Snowflake.

    Interpret SSRS and Power BI reports to thoroughly understand data sources and identify upstream gaps in data ingestion.

    Ensure that changes to data structures and pipelines are tracked and documented effectively.

    Work with infrastructure team members to coordinate deployment of new data structures in lower environments and production systems.

    Participates in team-based problem solving and multidisciplinary team use of various data-driven process improvement techniques.

    Develops best practice procedures for end users to facilitate the use of reporting tools and applications.

    Practices good software engineering techniques and standards to reduce coding errors and ensures robustness and efficiency of work products.

    Adopts new techniques and technologies.

    Assists with mentoring and training of less experienced IT staff members.

    Client Responsibilities
    This is an internal (and external to IT) client facing position that requires excellent customer service skills and interpersonal communication skills

    (listening/verbal/written).

    Qualifications

    Education and/or Experience
    BS or MS degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field required. Proficient (5+ years) in Developing Power BI solutions, reports, and dashboards. Expertise in using advance level calculations on the data set. Experience working on Power BI reports with large volumes of data. Knowledge of how to connect Power BI to various data sources (on-perm, cloud) and transform data. Ability to communicate with technical and non-technical users to provide business solutions. Ability to function independently and manage multiple projects. Self-motivated and attention to detail. SDLC and Agile methodologies.
    Computer Skills –

    Demonstrable skills required in the following areas:
    Fluid with .NET Framework, .NET Core, C#, Entity Framework Core.


    Advanced proficiency with ETL Framework, SQL, and SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) for the generation and extraction of data for use in analytics and reporting.

    Proficient in creating complex DAX queries in Power BI Desktop & Report Builder.

    Strong knowledge of Power BI Report Builder tool.

    Strong knowledge of Power BI service.

    Ensure code quality with Test Driven Development/ unit testing.

    Familiarity with the following is desirable.
    Real-time data streaming experience

    Proficiency in Python programming language

    Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
    Microsoft Power BI Certification is highly desirable.

Excellent written and verbal communications skills with emphasis on translating technical concepts to non-technical audiences. Results oriented and ability to juggle multiple concurrent projects with changing priorities and deadlines.

    Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public.

    Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

    Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.

    Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
