    Position Title:
    Postdoc Research Associate - Open RAN


    Appointment Type:
    Post Doc/Trainee


    Job Description:

    Summary of Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Lead or participate in the development, deployment, and operation of research prototypes in Open RAN and advanced wireless in general;
    • Lead teams of students and technical staff members in wireless systems development, deployment, and operation;
    • Collaborate with faculty members and public-private project partners in project execution;
    • Lead and participate in cutting-edge research that advances the frontiers of Open RAN, wireless systems, edge and cloud computing, and rural broadband;
    • Collaborate with students, postdocs, technical staff members, and public-private partners in research and funding acquisition;
    • Publish research results in high-quality venues;
    • Lead and participate in research funding acquisition activities, for instance, leading proposals to federal and state agencies as well as industry partners.

    Required Minimum Qualifications:
    PhD


    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Prior research experience in wireless, networks, and/or distributed systems is invaluable.
    For instance, qualifications in any of the following areas are strong pluses:


    • Research experience and quality publications in advanced wireless systems (e.g., safetycritical wireless, URLLC, Open RAN, 6G/NextG);
    • Handson experience with cellular network platforms (e.g., O-RAN, srsRAN, OpenAirInterface, ONF SD-RAN), edge/cloud computing platforms (e.g., Kubernetes, OpenStack), SDN, and/or VNF;
    • Handson experience in designing, developing, deploying, and/or operating fielddeployed wireless, network, and/or distributed systems;
    • Handson experiences in edge/cloud systems management, virtual machines/containers, Linux systems administration, shell scripting, etc;
    • Capability of building systems prototypes based on reference publications and/or opensource software;
    • Knowledge of wireless systems, networked/distributed systems, operating systems, virtualization, systems and network security;
    • Programming skills: Python, C, C++, Java, Web etc.
