    Department Overview

    Department Summary:

    A Registered Nurse working in the Center for Women's Health (CWH) is a member of a multi-disciplinary team and has the primary responsibility for, and provides, direct and indirect professional nursing care for patients.

    This includes representing the practice both in person and on the telephone, other OHSU departments, and non-OHSU facilities. The Registered Nurse assesses patient and family needs, develops a plan of care, implements, and evaluates the care delivered.

    The Registered Nurse is expected to practice in accordance with professional standards, core values, and with a commitment to service excellence.

    The divisions that the CWH nurse may work in include, but are not limited to, Perinatology, and the Generalist Division.

    Procedures completed include, but are not limited to, blood Transfusions, IV infusions (medication or hydration), medication administration, in-person patient education, post-partum visits, post-operative wound assessment and care.

    Function/Duties of Position

    Hiring Bonus up to $10,000 and Relocation Package Available. Must begin work by July 1, 2024 to qualify.$49.16-$78.18 per hour, based on RN Degree and level of experience

    Able to lift 50 lbs independently.

    Complies with the safe patient mobilization policy when lifting or positioning dependent patients, including using mechanical lifts and coordinating the assistance of other personnel.

    Required Qualifications

    BSN Graduates:

    Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing from a program accredited by Commission of Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation (CNEA) 30 days before start date.


    • ADN Graduates: Associate Degree in Nursing from an accredited program 30 days before the start date.
    • Associate degree Nurses required to enroll in BSN program within 3 years of hire and complete within 5 years of hire
    • Internal ONA applicants: Associate Degree in Nursing; BSN preferred
    • Current, unencumbered Oregon State Registered Nurse License
    • BLS at time of hire and must be issued by the American Heart Association (AHA)
    • BLS must not expire during orientation
    • Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without accommodation
    Preferred Qualifications

    Department Specific Preferences (competencies, certifications, etc.):


    • BSN Nursing degree
    • 2-year current experience in OB/GYN
    • 3 years' experience working in an Antenatal Testing Unit
    • 2 years' experience in outpatient clinic
    • Experience using EPIC
    • 2-year phone triage experience
    • 2-year phlebotomy experience
    • 1-year moderate sedation experience
    • 1-year experience starting and maintaining IV's for Hydration/Blood Transfusions/Medication Infusions
    • Ability to maintain a smooth operation of the entire practice, using problem-solving and decision-making combined with sound clinical judgments.
    • Assists provider with diagnostic and therapeutic procedures and treatments as needed in the clinic.
    • Ability to respond appropriately in crisis situations. Understands the procedures for medical emergencies, as well as other disaster situations.
