- Accompany special needs students to classes, lunch, and on extensive community-based outside trips to work on daily living, career, and leisure skills.
- Provide instructional assistance to students in subjects when needed.
- Provide assistance in classes such as PE, Home Arts, Computers.
- Administer physical and/or occupational therapy programs, where appropriate, when trained by classroom and/or education agency therapists.
- Assist with mobility needs such as repositioning, loading and unloading onto the bus, as well as transporting students around the school.
- Assist students with self-care needs when appropriate.
- Assist with programs the teacher has created for educational purposes.
- Report incidents of an unusual nature to teacher and principal.
- Maintain a reliable attendance record.
- Maintain confidentiality.
- Other duties as assigned by classroom teacher, building administrator and/or Coordinator of Special Education.
- Repetitious bending, lifting, and hand movement.
- Ability to work while standing, moving and/or walking.
- Drug, tobacco, and alcohol-free while working.
- Must be able to see and hear within normal limits with or without corrective lenses or hearing aids.
- Ability to operate a motor vehicle used to travel between sites.
- Majority of work is performed in an office or school setting.
- Occasional meetings outside the school day.
- Occasional exposure to body fluids, fumes, noise, and hazardous materials and emergency situations.

Provides one-on-one or small group assistance to students with special needs, allowing them to attend a regular classroom setting on a regular basis.
Hours:

Beginning Hourly Rate:
General Education Associate substitute:
$15.18/hr
Special Education Associate substitute:
$16.54/hr
This position is part-time on an as-needed basis and is not eligible for health insurance benefits.
