- Review claim and policy information to determine background for investigation and coverage analysis depending on the line of business.
- Contact, interview, and obtain statements from insureds, claimants, witnesses, physicians, attorneys, police officers, etc. to secure necessary claim information.
- Depending on the line of business, inspect and appraise damage for property losses or arrange for such appraisal.
- Evaluate facts supplied by investigation to determine the extent of liability of the insured, if any, and the extent of the carrier's obligation to the insured under the policy contract.
- Prepare reports on investigation, settlements, denials of claims, individual evaluation of involved parties, etc.
- Set reserves within authority limits and recommend reserve changes to the Director, Claims & Risk Management.
- As needed, review progress and status of claims with the Claims Director and discuss problems and suggested remedial actions.
- Prepare and submit unusual or possible undesirable exposures to the Claims Director. May assist the Claims Director in developing methods and improvements for handling claims.
- Settle claims promptly and equitably.
- Obtain releases, proofs of loss, or compensation agreements and issue company drafts in payments for claims.
- Inform claimants, insureds/customers, or attorney of denial of claim when applicable.
- Manage claims in litigation in accordance with company best practices. Continue efforts to settle claims before trial.
- Refer claims to subrogation as appropriate. May arrange for salvage disposition or other recovery proceedings as necessary by line of business.

Position Summary
We seek an experienced General Liability/Litigation Claim Representative for our Claims department in our Programs division. This role involves adjusting claims on behalf of our Program insurance carrier for clients in the family entertainment industry (amusement parks, waterparks, carnivals, fairs, festivals, and rodeos).
This position requires communicating with involved parties, reviewing claims information and reports, performing investigations, determining appropriate adjustments, and administering insurance policies in compliance with federal and state regulations. The position demands extensive commercial coverage and litigation experience.
This role may also provide additional services to internal teams such as recommending claim mitigation strategies, representing claims services at new business and renewal meetings, preparing quarterly claims reviews, and other client reporting.
Primary Responsibilities:
Requirements
A bachelor's degree from a four-year university is required (equivalent work experience will also be considered). Candidates must have at least five years of experience with commercial insurance, multi-line, property & casualty related claims management or adjusting experience; including extensive Coverage and Litigation experience. Extensive knowledge of commercial general liability, auto, and inland/marine coverages and experience with claims handling is required.
Candidates must have pertinent state claims adjusting license(s) or the ability to obtain the required license(s) within 60 days.
Successful candidates will have excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. They will be able to assess client needs and address difficult situations while fostering an excellent client experience.
This role requires a professional and positive disposition with the ability to navigate challenging client scenarios with a calm demeanor and solutions-focused outlook.
Strong organizational skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office programs are required. Experience using an agency management system is highly valued. Previous experience working for an insurance broker is highly preferred.
