    Description
    Drive a concrete mixer truck with a capacity of at least 78,000 pounds Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW). Requires commercial drivers' license (Class B minimum).

    Abilities:
    • Control Precision - The ability to quickly and repeatedly adjust the controls of a machine or a vehicle to exact positions.
    • Control Precision - Ability to maneuver mixer truck in and out of tight places and/or over uneven and mountainous terrain.
    • Far Vision - The ability to see details at a distance.
    • Multi-limb Coordination - The ability to coordinate two or more limbs (for example, two arms, two legs, or one leg and one arm) while sitting, standing, or lying down. It does not involve performing the activities while the whole body is in motion.
    • Near Vision - The ability to see details at close range (within a few feet of the observer).
    • Reaction Time - The ability to quickly respond (with the hand, finger, or foot) to a signal (sound, light, picture) when it appears.

    Essential Tasks:
    • Must be able to climb the rear truck ladder, bend over and view the concrete in the mixer drum to confirm the "slump"
    • Must be able to perform routine maintenance and safety checks on the mixer truck.
    • Must maintain the truck to include cleaning the truck, drum and all associated elements both inside and out. Clean entire truck using acid mixtures, water, soap, brushes and power equipment when necessary
    • Must be able to crawl under a mixer truck to check possible problem areas and bring such problems to a shop technician or to the dispatcher for resolution.
    • Must be able to operate the vehicle, chutes and equipment in a safe manner to include maintaining fluids at proper levels.
    • Must be able to maneuver vehicle in and out of tight places and/or over uneven and mountainous terrain.
    • Must be able to add various ingredients to concrete loads such as fibers, color, cement, and admixtures as directed by dispatchers and batchers.
    • Must be able to handle customer situations with tact and diplomacy
    • Must be able to meet the strenuous requirements of a concrete mixer driver, which include climbing in and out of a cab over 50 times a day.
    • Must be able to reach peddles, adjust the seat within its normal range of motion and climb all over the truck as required to perform functions of concrete delivery professional on construction job sites. This includes being able to perform the following actions on a routine basis;
    • Press in the clutch repeatedly, which can require 60 pounds of pressure each time
    • Operate all gears and controls on a concrete mixer truck, which can weigh up to 60,000 pounds when filled with concrete
    • Climb ladders routinely while carrying additives weighing up to 60 pounds
    • Operate equipment on truck weighing more than 60 pounds routinely (chutes, straps, mixers and ladders)
    • Ability to work in adverse weather conditions when required (heat, cold, rain, sleet, and snow)
    • Ability to wear protective clothing and equipment as required to include hearing protection, safety glasses, dust masks, boots, harnesses, and other clothing as required
    • Ability to withstand normal truck vibration, loud noise and other conditions in and around heavy construction sites

    Technology:
    • Must be able to communicate over the mobile communications systems with a clear voice
    • Must be able to use a two-way radio communication system
    • Must be able to use and understand the in-truck time and tracking system "Track-it" system
    • Must be able to use a tablet computer for electronic ticket functions

    Knowledge:
    • Transportation - Knowledge of DOT and FMCSA hours of service requirements. Must maintain driving record and logs in accordance with Federal and State motor carrier regulations and company policy.
    • Concrete Operations - Knowledge of the "basics" of concrete mixes available and be able to communicate with customers about the same.
    • Knowledgeable in checking the slump of concrete to ensure loads meet or exceed all customer and project standards.
    • Customer and Personal Service - Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
    • English Language - Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar.

    Skills:
    • Operation and Control - Controlling operations of equipment or systems.
    • Operation Monitoring - Watching gauges, dials, or other indicators to make sure a vehicle or machine is working properly.
    • Time Management - Managing one's own time to accommodate scheduled deliveries.

    Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
    This is a full-time position, and hours of work and days are Monday through Friday. Early morning, evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand. Concrete Delivery Professionals are required to work at least two (2) Saturdays per month.

    Other Requirements:
    • Must be able to pass a random drug and alcohol test
    • Must be able to pass a DOT physical as required by the DOT (once every two years)
    • Must present a clean and professional image
    • Other job requirements as assigned by supervisor
