- Partner with cross-functional teams (primarily Product and Engineering) throughout the full product life-cycle to provide solution-oriented legal advice related to AppFolio's products and services.
- Stay up-to-date with the complex laws and regulations applicable to AppFolio's products and services, functioning as a trusted advisor and resource.
- Produce clear and succinct written legal analysis and business communications.
- Draft, manage, and update foundational documents for product and service offerings.
- Collaborate with Procurement, Partnerships, and Privacy teams to review, draft, and negotiate key product vendor agreements and licenses.
- Create and support continuous improvements of forms, policies, and processes to simplify, scale, and automate Legal support of Product and Engineering teams.
- Brief senior legal team members on product developments and legal issues to facilitate the delivery of consistent and effective legal advice at all levels of the organization. Qualifications

- JD from ABA-accredited law school.
- Active license in good standing with one or more U.S. state bars.
- Minimum of two years of sophisticated legal experience.
- Experience transacting, litigating, advising, or otherwise operating in one or more heavily regulated areas.
- Willingness to adjust roles to the needs of the Legal team and the ability to quickly adapt to changing needs of the organization.
- Comfortable and adept at navigating uncharted areas and balancing risk and opportunity, thinking creatively to enable smart decision-making.
- Experience drafting commercial contracts and licenses (experience with SaaS agreements a plus).
- Technical savvy with the ability to quickly learn and operate new systems.
- A combination of law firm and in-house experience, especially in technology. Compensation & Benefits The base salary/hourly wage that we reasonably expect to pay for this role is $132,000 - $185,000 The actual base salary for this role will be determined by a variety of factors, including but not limited to the candidate's skills, education, experience, etc. Please note that base pay is one important aspect of a compelling Total Rewards package. The base pay range indicated here does not include any additional benefits or bonuses that you may be eligible for based on your role and/or employment type.
