- Reviews case files, tax returns, examination reports, work papers, adjustments and closing documents. Determines that required documents are present, complete and consistent with the examination reports. Ensures that all necessary documents are properly signed and executed.
- Determines presence of a variety of factors which impact on the processing of the case, such as a statute of limitation expiration, "No Record on AIMS", partial agreements, and agreed to over $50,000 deficiency. Ensures that all the necessary documents are properly signed and executed.
- Computes the proper assessable and allowable interest considering affected tax periods, varying interest rates, information received from the taxpayer, or other conditions identified when working the case. Computes allowable interest and the abatements of interest and penalties due to overpayments and/or over assessments.
- Determines if over assessment is barred when statutory limitations are applicable. Prepares requests for manual assessment when necessary. Determines portion of over assessment barred from allowance when statutory limitations are partially applicable.
