    About The Role


    The Chief Operating Officer, NE Gas is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the gas division of the company. The COO will work closely with the NE President to develop and implement strategies that ensure the safe, reliable, and efficient delivery of gas to customers. The COO will also be responsible for creating and managing the gas division's budget and Capital Investment Plan, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and fostering a culture of safety, operational excellence, and customer-centricity. As a member of the New England Leadership Team, the COO Gas will help to shape the strategic direction, management, and performance of the business as a whole.

    Key Accountabilities

    • Develop and implement strategies to ensure the safe, reliable, and efficient delivery of gas to customers.
    • Create and manage the gas division's budget, ensuring financial targets are met, including identifying and implementing opportunities for process improvements, efficiencies, and cost savings.
    • Lead the development and delivery of the Capital Investment Plan for the gas division consistent with the company's strategic priorities and clean energy goals.
    • Foster a culture of safety and operational excellence within the gas division.
    • Collaborate on the development and execution of regulatory strategy and related filings. Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and maintain positive relationships with regulatory agencies.
    • Create and maintain emergency response plans and procedures.
    • Collaborate effectively with other departments and divisions across the company to ensure seamless operations, customer satisfaction, and knowledge sharing.
    • Maintain strong relationships with labor unions, lead Gas union negotiations in collaboration with Labor Relations team.
    • Develop and maintain strong, positive relationships with key stakeholders, including customers, community groups, suppliers, and industry groups.
    • Provide leadership and direction to the gas division's management team; Ensure that the gas division is staffed with qualified and competent personnel at all levels that reflect the communities we serve.
    • Play a key role on the NE Leadership Team, helping to define and achieve the broader NE business goals, objectives, and outcomes.

    About You

    • Bachelor's degree in engineering, business administration, or a related field.
    • Minimum of 10 years of experience in the gas industry, operations, equivalent relevant experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
    • Strong knowledge of gas operations, regulations, and safety standards.
    • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement successful strategies to achieve targeted business outcomes.
    • Proven track record of strong financial management, budgeting capabilities, risk management and process improvement.
    • Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
