Motion Planning ML Engineer - Costa Mesa, California, United States - Anduril Industries

    Anduril Industries background
    Description

    WHY WE'RE HERE

The Vehicle Autonomy (Robotics) team at Anduril develops aerial and ground-based robotic systems. The team is responsible for taking products like Ghost, Anvil, and our Sentry Tower from paper sketches to operational systems. We work in close coordination with specialist teams like Perception, Autonomy, and Manufacturing to solve some of the hardest problems facing our customers. We are looking for software engineers and roboticists excited about creating a powerful robotics stack that includes computer vision, motion planning, SLAM, controls, estimation, and secure communications.

We are hiring for Motion Planning ML Engineers to build foundation models for our robotics to drive the future of autonomy across all current and future generations of autonomous military vehicles.

    WHAT YOU'LL DO

    • Experience applying machine learning techniques to build multi-modal multi-task sensor fusion architectures solving problems for our perception stack including object detection and tracking, segmentation, OD understanding, flow estimation and future prediction
    • Gain understanding of how machine learning powers a safety critical, large-scale application in a real-world environment
    • Design and develop large-scale foundation models
    • Develop data mining, labeling, training and evaluation pipelines

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

    • Strong engineering background from industry or school, ideally in areas/fields such as Robotics, Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, or Physics
    • 5+ experience working as a Software Engineer within Computer Vision, Machine Learning and deep learning
    • Strong experience with Python or C++
    • Ability to quickly understand and navigate complex systems and established code bases
    • An "under the hood" knowledge of deep learning: layer details, loss functions, optimization, etc
    • Proven expertise in deploying production ML models for autonomous systems (AVs, UAVs, USVs), computer vision, or natural language processing at scale
    • U.S. Person status is required as this position needs to access export controlled data

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

    • PhD degree in Computer Science or a similar discipline, or an equivalent amount of machine learning experience
    • Experience with Imitation Learning, Reinforcement Learning (offline/off-policy), modern Neural Network architectures (e.g., GPT, Diffusion), or related techniques
