Description
POSITION SUMMARY
The Commodity Manager will play a crucial role in managing the sourcing, procurement, and supply chain activities related to specific commodities within the organization.
This role will require a strategic thinker with strong analytical skills, negotiation abilities, and a deep understanding of market dynamics.
The Commodity Manager will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to develop and execute strategies that optimize costs, mitigate risks, and ensure the availability of high-quality materials or services.
CORE FUNCTIONS
Evaluate and analyze category trends; manage supply risk and minimize total costs. This will include optimizing category strategies and reducing the total cost of ownership.
Collaborate cross functionally to determine supply needs and business requirements to select the best suppliers and service providers.
Drive the RFQ process and effectively manage supplier performance for quality, price, delivery, and service.
Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, including the development of new product concepts and optimized services while participating in supplier business reviews.
Collaborate with Operations leadership in data gathering and analysis to develop short and long-term action plans for continuous improvement opportunities, initiatives, and significant cost savings.
Source specific commodities, manufactured goods and/or service requirements to the required specification at competitive best landed cost terms and in accordance with program and/or budget targets.
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS
Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree in a related field required. Master's degree preferred.
6-8 years of related experience required.
Experience working in a multinational company is preferred.
ERP experience preferred.
Automotive aftermarket sector experience is a plus.
Required Licenses
Purchasing Certification (CPM / SPSM) is a plus.
Skills, Abilities, and Knowledge
Skilled in Microsoft Office Suite with emphasis in Excel, Word, Power-Point, Outlook.
Ability to write, speak, and comprehend English. Ability to write, speak, and comprehend Spanish preferred.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret graphs.
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
Ability to write simple correspondence.
Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small or large group situations to customers, customers, and other employees of the organization.
Ability to interpret a variety of instructions. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret reports and various data sources.
Ability to respond to complaints.
Ability to effectively present information to top management.
Ability to negotiate (tactics, techniques, and strategies).
Knowledge of database software, manufacturing processes.
Travel
Occasional travel may be required; approximately 10-20%.
