    They are looking to hire 1-2 Technical Services Lead Supervisors who will oversee a team responsible for hands-on installation and de-installation of telecommunications infrastructure in central office, data center, and related technical environments.

    The position requires extensive travel and the ability to work in physically demanding environments while maintaining a strong focus on safety, quality, and efficient project execution. No sponsorship available for these roles.

    About the Role

    Our client has comprehensive procedures enabling them to perform efficient and effective technical services including but not limited to installs, de-installs, card retrievals, etc while maintaining the integrity and the value of the equipment. This person should use a sound foundation and quality assurance processes to ensure that system hardware is managed in accordance with industry and customer accepted standards. The ideal candidate will be well versed in the Telcordia GR1275 industry standard. The Lead Supervisor manages all aspects of the technical process for the internal teams from job start to job completion, including but not limited to End of Job (EOJ) walkthroughs and sign offs.

    Services will vary by customer location and need. However, it often includes powering down switches, cutting off cabling and removal of switches (including Nortel, Lucent, Alcatel, Tellabs etc.), cable mining, disassembly and removal of ladder racking, removal of batteries, HVAC and generators, and, in some cases, refurbishing space to its pre-existing condition. Appropriate care for all equipment must be taken to ensure saleable/return equipment is not damaged and that scrap gear is secured from theft. This person will also help formulate and roll out processes to ensure that equipment is managed most efficiently to balance both cost and revenue opportunity. This includes the requirement to ensure that all equipment is well labelled and loaded with carriers to minimize manual efforts by the receiving team.

    While the Lead Supervisor will be responsible for being a hands-on manager in the field, it is expected that this person will work to build an internal team of varying skill sets, train, and monitor them to ultimately execute projects without their direct/on-site supervision.

    This role will also require active participation in creating and/or modifying processes and procedures in conjunction with the manager and director to reach organizational goals. This will also require ensuring that the internal systems are kept up to date with project status, notes, etc for overall internal and partner reporting requirements.

    Responsibilities

    • Conduct site surveys to review the equipment to be installed/de-installed as well as job site removal requirements.
    • Create method of procedure (MOP) with step-by-step details of how the job is to be conducted (including site details, power, traffic, and other considerations).
    • Identify, hire and train individuals.
    • Build internal relationships to ensure effective utilization of cross-trained teammates.
    • Manage Technicians performing installation or de-installation work in diverse locations
    • Conduct daily meetings with Technicians laying out functions to be performed.
    • Communicate customer specifications and requirements prior to job start to ensure that properly trained personnel are working on certain tasks.
    • Oversee preparation and loading of equipment prior to transportation to company warehouses or recycling facilities
    • Estimate number of hours and materials needed to complete the removal
    • Work with the Technical Services Manager in developing final job costing
    • Work closely with logistics and recycling team to develop creative and cost-effective strategies for determining individual project equipment removal
    • Ensure that travel costs are optimized and closely monitored.

    Qualifications & Experience

    • 4-year College Degree in Telecommunications, Engineering or other similar technical industry (preferred).
    • Minimum ten (10) years of experience managing telecommunications network operations including: Field experience leading to engineering preferred and an employment history that shows progressive responsibility.
    • Demonstrated ability to project manage multiple simultaneous projects.
    • Experience in the installation and de-installation of traditional central office telecommunication equipment (Nortel, Tellabs, Lucent, Alcatel, etc.)
    • Technical knowledge, experience and abilities including but not limited to Alcatel, Lucent, Nortel, Tellabs, etc.
    • DC power plant installation/de-installation including rectifier bays, battery strings, and inverter bays
    • Physical plant installation and de-installation including running, pulling, lacing, terminating, wire wrapping, and/or splicing cables; installing telecommunications equipment, routers, switches, multiplexors, cable trays, and alarm systems; building ironwork and ladder racks; establishing connections; programming features; establishing connections and integrations.

    Work Location and Travel Requirements

    Ideal candidates will be based in the Rochester, NY area, where company headquarters are located, but consideration may also be given to fully remote for qualified candidates willing to travel. The role requires extensive travel to customer sites throughout the contiguous United States, with travel expected to be up to approximately 80% depending on project demand.

    Assignments may require technicians to remain on-site for multiple days or weeks at a time based on the scope and schedule of each project. Appropriate travel accommodations and per-dem allowances will be provided in accordance with company policy.

    Compensation

    • Base salary between $90,000-110,000
    • Performance bonus (Approximately 10%)
