Primary Purpose:
Serve as the NISD Aquatic Center Director.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree or higher from a recognized, accredited college or university;
Pool Operator Certification (CPO)
Lifeguard Instructor Certification (WSI) preferred
Current First Aid and CPR Certification preferred
Knowledge of University Interscholastic League (UIL) rules and regulations;
A minimum of four (4) years coaching experience in a formal educational setting preferred;
American Swim Coaches Association (ASCA) certification preferred
Demonstrates leadership in working with diverse students, staff, families, and communities
Possess knowledge of pool, water filtration and aquatic timing systems
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
Schedules, supervises, manages and coordinates all aquatic activities and meets using the NISD aquatic facility.
Coordinates all outside use of the NISD aquatic facility according to NISD facility use rules and regulations.
Oversee and manage process of planning all district wide aquatic's events.
Assists with the planning and budgeting process for all natatorium expenses and budgets.
Coordinate and plan with the Athletic Director, Directors of Facilities, Operations and Maintenance all necessary maintenance and facility improvement processes as necessary to operate district aquatic facility.
Assists the Athletic Director in selection of staff related to the district aquatics programs.Manage and evaluate all natatorium and aquatic operations personnel.
Maintains a safe environment and ensures that operators and users are properly trained and that swimmers and divers are properly supervised.
Sets measurable, annual goals for Aquatics, specifically related to athletic, academic, and public programming and facility improvement.Oversees and approves procedures and personnel for ticket sales, security, officiating, and internal accounting for district aquatic events.
Oversee and assist with the recruitment, training and evaluation of all NISD aquatics' staff.
Meet regularly with the Aquatics staff in individual and group sessions; develops individual and staff professional development plans.
Counsels coaches on both UIL and club sport rules and eligibility.
Attends clinics and conventions as appropriate.
Performs other tasks and duties as assigned.
Supervisory Duties:
Lifeguard staff as assigned
Equipment Used:
Athletic aquatics equipment, standard office equipment including computer and peripherals, and other instructional equipment; automated external defibrillator (AED).
Working Conditions:
Prolonged standing; kneeling, squatting, bending, and stooping; frequent driving; moderate grasping/squeezing, wrist flexion/extension, and reaching. Frequent walking and physical movements associated with sport(s) assigned. Frequent light lifting (less than 15 pounds); occasional moderate lifting or carrying pounds).
Work involves exposure to normal, recurring risks associated with aquatics and swimming pool operations including some exposure to hazardous materials.
Maintain emotional control under stress. Occasional prolonged and irregular hours as needed to deliver aquatics programs to many divergent groups.
