Overview

Purpose Statement/Position Summary

Performs radiotherapeutics and related procedures prescribed by the Radiation Oncologist to assure optimal delivery of pediatric patient care.

General responsibilities include proper operation of radiotherapeutics equipment; performance of quality control and quality assurance procedures; fabrication/construction and use of custom blocks, bolus, compensators, head and body immobilizing devices, contours, and templates; precise recording of patient treatment, verification radiograph, and laboratory results; coordination of the patient treatment schedule; maintenance of the simulation, treatment and block cutting rooms; organization and maintenance of appropriate levels of treatment-related supplies; and notification of the physicist and physician of any equipment problems or irregularities.

Includes assistance in conducting clinical research.

Minimum Qualifications/Work Experience

1+ years in radiation therapy required .Pediatric radiation therapy preferred. Technical knowledge of Hem-Onc Radiology equipment. Knowledge of proper body mechanics. Knowledge of and ability to apply NRC, JCAHO, and OSHA regulations. Knowledge of proper patient care documentation procedures. Strong interpersonal skills requiring diplomacy, patience and positive interaction with physicians, staff, patients, parents, and community.

Education/Licensure/Certification

Completion of an educational program in radiation therapy technology accredited by the Joint Review Commission on Education; current CA (CRT) certification in radiation therapy technology; current National (ARRT) registry required; current fluoroscopy license.

BLS from AHA required.

Pay Scale Information

USD $ USD $73.50

The pay scale listed for this position is generally for candidates that meet the specified qualifications and requirements listed on this specific job description.
