Residential Laborer/Thrower Job Description

EXPERIENCE PREFERRED

EDUCATION PREFERRED

HS Graduate or Equivalent

General Purpose of Job: Assist driver with residential waste collection.

Essential Functions:

Perform curb pick up collections by dumping all cans and garbage in the truck

Working as a spotter for the driver

Ensure compliance with company policies, safety and maintenance procedures

Trained to fuel and dump refuse trucks in the landfill

Clean refuse trucks inside and out

Help navigate the driver safely for the route

Operate the mechanics on the rear of the vehicle

Dismount truck to collect garbage and remount the truck to ride to next collection

Communicate with dispatchers concerning delays, unsafe routes, accidents, equipment breakdowns

Keep informed of weather conditions

Equipment/Tools Used: Trucks, seat belts, mechanics in rear of truck

Protective Clothing & Equipment Used: Reflective vest, gloves, steel-toe boots

Special Skills, Education or Licensure Required:

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Occasional exposure to extreme temperatures

May be exposed to solvents, chemicals and refuse
