    Position Summary:


    The Coord Teams Program will be responsible for the implementation, planning, marketing and all administrative functions of the UNMHSC system-wide crew resource management.

    This position will also provide a systematic and objective approach for the selection of units to be included in the program, and for coordination and support of initiatives and projects as they relate to crew resource management.

    Additionally, in collaboration with area leaders, identifies members of the change team and trains them accordingly. Leads change team members through project planning, data collection and analysis, process improvement, and sustainment monitoring. Ensures institutional penetration of crew resource management throughout UNM Hospital and associated entities.

    This position reports to the Director of Nursing Quality with a matrixed reporting relationship to the Associate Chief Quality Officer.

    No patient care assignment.


    Detailed responsibilities:

    • QUALITY ASSESSMENT – Through the effective use and evaluation of data sources identify and recommend opportunities of improvement to relevant stakeholders, leaders, committees or teams

    • ANALYSIS – Identifies necessary data sources as well as data monitors to inform program implementation planning and sustainment, both at the unit level and institutionally
    • BENCHMARKING - Identify and use relevant benchmarking platforms such as Vizient or other professional database sources to inform and guide meaningful performance goals and targets
    • COLLABORATION – Collaborate with unit leaders to identify crew resource management Champions and those members who will participate on the Change Team
    • TRAINING – Using appropriate methods for adult learners, train change team members on change processes within the framework of crew resource management, including the requisite tools therein.
    • TRAINING – Collaborates with the Office of Professional Development, Clinical Education, The School of Medicine, and the School of Nursing to ensure institution-wide education and training in crew resource management.
    • PROJECTS - Using crew resource management methodologies and tools, facilitates effective and meaningful performance improvement to achieve identified targets and goals
    • PROJECTS – Leads change teams through the project planning process including conducting area change readiness assessments; identification of process gaps; identification of process and outcome metrics for sustainment monitoring
    • POLICIES – Has knowledge of existing internal policies, procedures and guidelines and uses them to inform scope or necessity of performance improvement projects
    • MEETINGS AND PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT - Attend and participate in professional meetings and relevant professional organizations/associations to stay current as to innovation in healthcare quality and project management; translate newly acquired knowledge to evolve skillset and enhance effectiveness of role
    • REPORTING – In conjunction with area leadership, report program efforts and progress to the Quality Implementation Council
    • CUSTOMER RELATIONS - Establish and maintain good rapport and effective working relationships with patients, visitors, physicians and Hospitals employees

    Experience:

    Essential:
    TeamSTEPPS Master Trainer 3 years directly related experience Process Improvement and project management principles and tools


    Nonessential:
    Public speaking, redesign and process improvement activities, creating curriculum and teaching adult learners, project management and benchmarking experience


    Credentials:

    Essential:

    • TeamSTEPPS Certification w/in 3 months of position

    Physical Conditions:

    Medium Work:

    Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

    Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.
