You'd like to do this The UAS Aviation Safety Officer (ASO) is responsible for the overall safety, user compliance, and standardization of Bluehalo's multi-discipline company-wide aviation operations, ensuring that all flights operate safely and comply with all aviation regulations

    Manage Aviation Safety Programs:
    The UAS Aviation Safety Officer is responsible for implementing safety management systems, including incident reporting and investigations, conducting safety audits, and ensuring compliance with FAA aviation regulations

    Manage flight operations:
    The UAS Aviation Safety Officer is responsible for the day-to-day management of air operations
    They oversee the scheduling of flights, monitor flight performance, and ensure that all flights are operating on time

    Manage crew:
    The UAS Aviation Safety Officer is responsible for overseeing crew, including remote pilots, safety pilots and other essential personnel
    They ensure that all crew members are properly trained, have the necessary certifications, and are complying with all safety procedures

    Overseeing policies and procedures:
    Aviation Safety Officer is responsible for developing policies and procedures for flight operations
    They work with other teams such as maintenance and engineering, to ensure that all policies and procedures are up-to-date and effective
    Duties include but are not limited to:

    • Development and execution of Uncrewed Aerial System (UAS) safety policies and procedures
    • Develop, implement and maintain flight operations training and safety management training
    • Ensuring ground and flight safety of operations and conducting safety inspections
    • Ensuring safety system compliance and standardization
    • Development and execution of risk management and mitigation policies and procedures
    • Performing safety regulation, policy and documentation review and making recommendations to the Aviation Safety Board (ASB)
    • Interfacing with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and, as appropriate, other test ranges to develop a program to qualify and obtain approvals for the operation of manually piloted and/or autonomous flight safety system for UAS
    • Performing operations safety analyses to ensure the safety of the public, ground and flight crews for UAS and other related systems
    • Develop and implement UAS safety protocols and risk management strategies
    • Provide training and education on Part 107 regulations and safe UAS operation practices
    • Monitor technological developments in UAS and adapt safety protocols as necessary

    • Participate in emergency response planning for UAS-related incidents
    • Prepare reports on UAS safety performance and compliance for FAA management
    • Stay current with changes in UAS regulations and best practices
    • Coordinate with customers to optimize system performance while maintaining safe operations
    • Participate in ASB reviews of customers' proposed UAS configurations and operations
    • Ensure compliance of Bluehalo operations with relevant government regulations, standards, and best practices
    • Performing Incident investigations, safety incident reporting, and safety audits, in accordance with safety management policy
    • Develop and maintain project budgets and schedules You're required to have this
    • Minimum of six (6) years of experience in Aviation Safety related to crewed and/or uncrewed operations
    • In-depth knowledge of FAA Part 107 regulations
    • Familiarity with state and federal Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA) standards
    • Capable of solving complex problems with little to no supervision on schedule as an individual or as a member of an integrated team
    • Strong work ethic and a self-starter
    • Strong communication skills, with the ability to effectively educate and advise UAS operators
    • Proficiency in UAS-specific software and standard office software
    • Must already possess, or be able to obtain a Department of Defense (DoD) Secret security clearance
    • Must already possess, or be able to obtain an FAA Class II Medical Certificate
