    Description

    SUMMARY:

    Designs, Programs, Builds, Integrates & Installs Robotic and Control Systems for Automated Manufacturing Machinery and Robotic Work Cells

    Work with Automation Engineers, Manufacturing Engineers, Quality Engineers, Production Management to develop Machinery and Cells that meets or exceeds the requirements of our company and customers

    Act as a liaison between Engineering, Production, and other departments in order to increase interdepartmental efficiency and cooperation.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Select components, design panel layouts, develop wiring diagrams, for control system enclosures, and operator panels.
    • Program and integration of PLCs, HMIs, vision systems, and other microprocessor based systems used in manufacturing and test equipment
    • Design control systems including laying out panels, mounting components, and wiring and install on manufacturing and test equipment.

    • Be able to Integrate Robotic systems with various manufacturing machines to form robotic work cells
    • Develop programs for robots used in work cells.Experience with Fanuc, Universal robots and Yaskawa is preferred.
    • Wire communications, logic, and safety systems between robots and other equipment in robotic work cells.
    • Work with the Automation Supervisor in overseeing control related issues relevant to process equipment being built by outside contractors.
    • Work with the Automation Supervisor in the evaluation of pre-manufactured equipment being considered for purchase ensuring adherence to Hutchinson design specifications and requirements with primary focus on: machine controls, efficiency, reliability, maintenance requirements and preventive maintenance, personnel and machine safety, and conformance to Requirements from Vendors document.
    • Provide training regarding machine operation and maintenance requirements for internal designed robot equipment and manufacturing cells.

    Responsible for completing all tasks assigned by the Department's Supervisor which includes using tools to wire and repair new and existing equipment.

    • Ensure compliance with the health and safety regulations and quality standards.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Must have proven experience in PLC logic and programming with any of the following PLCs: Allen Bradley, Fanuc, Siemens, Omron and HMI programming.

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

    Associates engineering robotics and automation controls or associate degree in electronics equivalent with a minimum of 3 years experience in a similar position.

    Three years experience programming Allen Bradley PLC ladder logic; preferably RSLogix 500, Studio 5000 for CompactLogix and MicroLogix PLC's

    Three years electronic communication experience working with ModBus TCP/IP, and Ethernet IP

    Familiar with programming Keyence and Cognex vision systems.

    Experience to meet responsibilities with minimal detailed supervision. Must have a comprehensive knowledge of electrical component selection and panel layout design including materials, safety, and labeling practices.

    Must understand and be able to influence the design of mechanicals, pneumatics, hydraulics, and data acquisition.

    Must be a self-starter, organized and dedicated, with good record keeping skills.

    LANGUAGE SKILLS:

    Ability to read, analyze, and interpret professional electrical schematics, PLC ladder logic and/or technical manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from employees, management, customers, and the general public.

    COMPUTER SKILLS:

    Ability to use word processing, spreadsheet, AutoCAD applications. Must be familiar with internet research and the use of e-mail.
