- Evaluates, treats and rehabilitates injuries of TAMUK athletes. Taping, bracing and preparation of student athletes for practice and games (events) of assigned sports.
- Provides attendance and supervision, for safety preventive and emergency care of student athletes, at practices and games (events) of assigned sports. Travel, as directed and required, with assigned teams.
- Charting and record keeping of student athlete injuries utilizing current record keeping systems and protocols. Coordination and consultation with Physicians, and student athletes and medical facilities regarding health care. Consultation with coaches and parents regarding student athlete health care.
- Assists in supervision of student athletic trainer apprenticeship education and sport scheduling as well as teaching courses in Athletic Training.
- Maintains professional licenses and certifications.
- Assists in maintenance and supervision of athletic training room, equipment and supply inventory.

Job Summary
The Athletic Trainer, under direction, prevents, cares and treats injuries to athletes using necessary knowledge of injury patterns and modern principle of athletic training.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The above represents the major duties, responsibilities, and authorities of this job, and is not intended to be a complete list of all tasks and functions.
Minimum Requirements
Education - Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience - One year full-time experience or three years part-time, paid or voluntary experience as a student trainer.
Knowledge of- Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database software. General knowledge of NCAA rules. Knowledge of drug testing procedures.
Ability to-Ability to comprehend oral and written instructions. Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others. Medical & First Aid skills including joint taping and physical therapy skills.
Registrations, Certifications, and Licenses-Must be able to obtain State of Texas License to practice Athletic Training within six months.
Preferred Requirements
Education - Master's degree.
Experience - Three (3) years full-time experience or three years part-time, paid or voluntary experience as an athletic trainer.
Other Requirements
May require work beyond normal working hours, weekends, and holidays.
