Job Description

The advanced life support (ALS) staff member will perform duties associated with providing rescue services and emergency medical care to the sick and injured in accordance with all applicable laws, regulations and North Huntingdon Township EMS/Rescue policies. Additionally, the applicant will be responsible to participate in shift training, quality assurance/improvement projects, and assorted public relations events.

Schedule: Part time/per diem, but can be a regularly scheduled shift if desired

Educational Requirements:

The applicant must have a minimum of a high school diploma or GED.

Certificates, Licenses and Registrations:

The ALS staff member must, at minimum, possess and maintain:

• A valid driver's license,
• Current Pennsylvania or National Registry Advanced EMT, Paramedic, or Prehospital Registered Nurse certification.
• Eligible for Forbes Regional Hospital Command
• American Heart Association BCLS certification or equivalent,
• Emergency Vehicle Operators Course (EVOC) certification

Preferred:

• Hazardous Materials Operations Level training
• Highway Incident Safety (VFIS 4 hr or 16 hr Course)
• Helicopter Safety Course
• ICS 100, ICS 200, NIMS 700
• Water Rescue Awareness
• PA Basic Vehicle Rescue Technician*
• PA Special Vehicle Rescue*
• Basic Rigging for Rope Rescue*

*Training will be provided as needed, not required on hire

Minimum Experience, Abilities Required and Special Requirements:

The applicant must have the ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing and have a basic working knowledge of a personal computer.
