Position Summary

The nurse clinician provides direct and specialized outpatient nursing care and coordination of care to individuals and families of individuals with inherited bleeding and clotting disorders, including:

Counseling and education - Providing complex instruction and education
Guidance regarding medication administration and direct administration of medications as indicated
Nursing assessments
Outpatient triage
Assisting with coordination of access to care
Participating in outreach and surveillance projects
Participating in telemedical clinics

This position will require local or national travel outside of normal business hours.

Unit Specific Education/Experience/Skills

Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four year college degree program in Nursing; one to three years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in Nursing; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. The position also requires possession of a current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Michigan. May require a Bachelor's degree in Nursing; work experience in a particular area of nursing or health care; and/or certification as an oncology nurse.

Desired Qualifications

Knowledge that which normally would be acquired by completing a four-year college degree program in nursing; three to five years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in nursing; or an equivalent combination of education and experience; requires possession of a current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Michigan. Experience with an Electronic Medical Record (EMR), working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite; Reliable and available transportation required.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate:

Strong interpersonal communications
Attention to detail
Working knowledge of and experience with specialized databases and electronic data capture systems
Working knowledge of and experience with electronic medical records
Experience shipping biological materials
Knowledge of coagulation disorders, including hemophilia, VWD, platelet disorders, and thrombophilia beneficial
Experience in lifespan nursing care
Working knowledge of MS Office suite
