    Lion Cub Academy Taylor Hall Lead Teacher/Director Substitute

    The Early Childhood Teacher is responsible for the academic, social-emotional growth and development of all children in their care, which may include toddlers and/or preschool-age children; develops partnerships with parents/child's caregivers to engage and encourage parent participation in the program. The Lead Teacher is also responsible for assuring compliance with the codes of all State and local governing contracting agencies; and works collegially with other staff members of the Lion Cub Academy.

    Specific Duties and Responsibilities

    Essential Duties:

    Serves as the Director on Duty for licensing.

    Develops and implements age-appropriate curriculum and classroom environment to nurture and stimulate all domains of children's development in their care.

    Ability to make decisions on behalf of children and protect their well-being.

    Supervises children that are in the care of the Lion Cub Academy, in a classroom, and on the playgrounds.

    Must be able to manage confidential and sensitive information.

    Supervises Franklin Tech early childhood practicum students for their clinical field experience.

    Interacts with and provides classroom tours for the parents of children who are of age to be assigned teacher's classroom in the early childhood program.

    Conducts assessments with children to report their developmental progress to parents/guardians.

    Prepare developmental progress reports as needed and report these findings to the parent/guardians at the fall and spring semester parent-teacher conferences.

    Completes orientation of the classroom with parents and establishes an ongoing, open communication system.

    Assist families with children's transitions from toddler to preschool and from preschool to kindergarten.

    Implements the food program; by assisting with records keeping, preparation, and/or serving of meals and snacks.

    Completes and reports any symptoms of child abuse to supervisor and/or child abuse hotline.

    Responsible for contacting parents/guardians in the event of an accident or incident while their child is in care within a timely manner (15 minutes).

    Document accidents or incidents that happen while caring for the children.

    Conducts emergency preparedness drills monthly.

    Holds a current CPR/First Aid, and AED certification.

    Uses appropriate sanitation standards when handling bodily fluids, i.e., blood, feces, nasal secretions, and urine.

    Ensures that the Assistant Teachers are kept updated in all matters concerning the classroom and program, i.e., Lead Teacher Meetings, lesson plans, policies & procedures, and training received.

    Participate in ongoing in-service and educational development opportunities, and complete at least the 12 required hours of clock training each year per state licensing.

    Assists the director in any project that is assigned.
