    Description

    The mission of Heritage at The J is to encourage adults, ages 55 and over, to participate in educational, cultural, spiritual, fitness, and social programs in order to increase health, well-being, and connection to other individuals and the Jewish community.

    The Receptionist serves as the first point of contact for Heritage at The J members. The Receptionist provides outstanding customer service and performs various administrative tasks.

    Schedule: Wednesday-Friday 9am-4pm

    Essential Functions

    • Register members for programs and classes
    • Accept lunch reservations, take money and reconcile the till
    • Answer the telephone and respond to email inquiries
    • Perform data entry
    • Prepare and update rosters for classes
    • Administer and maintain Heritage membership records
    • Oversee the transportation needs of seniors and communicate with service provider
    Requirements
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications
    • Excellent customer service skills
    • Strong oral and written communication skills
    • Working knowledge of office machinery for printing, mailing, etc.
    • High School diploma
    • Experience working with older adults is preferred
    • Aptitude to learn new software programs
    Physical Requirements

    This position primarily works in an indoor, office, desk environment. The job is stationary up to 60% of the time (though standing up as desired is also an option); uses repetitive motions and hand/eye coordination to operate computer, mouse, keyboard or similar equipment for data entry and related daily work. Also includes frequent talking and hearing to communicate with members/visitors as the first point of contact in person or over the phone. Must be able to carry items up to 25 pounds and move about the office to complete daily tasks including bending, moving, lifting, pushing to rearrange tables and chairs or similar needs.
