    The Music Department of California State University San Marcos (CSUSM) invites applicants for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Music Industry/Audio Production. We are seeking a dynamic educator with professional music industry experience and a vision to create a new and innovative program within our growing Music Department. We are looking for an artist-scholar who will develop a curriculum and maintain a professional profile to enhance the visibility of the Music Department while representing CSUSM in the local, national, and international communities. Additionally, we are in search of an educator who will develop and/or teach curricula that amplify the voices of historically excluded communities through local and regional engagement.

    Minimum Qualifications

    Master's degree in music from an accredited institution
    Documented experience in the Audio Production/Music Industry
    Demonstrated ability to teach undergraduate courses
    Ability to teach and develop music courses based on curricular needs
    Ability to teach diverse student populations and apply an equity lens to this position including social justice and/or anti-racism
    Preferred Qualifications

    Preference will be given to candidates with a doctorate degree in music
    Preference will be given to candidates with extensive experience in the Music Industry field at the regional, national and international levels
    Preference will be given to candidates with classroom, recording studio, and internship teaching experience at the university level
    Preference will be given to candidates with the ability to generate excitement and attract students to the program
    Preference will be given to applicants with demonstrated intercultural competence with diverse groups in teaching, research and/or service.
    Duties:

    Teaching undergraduate courses in recording techniques, music technology, and digital music
    Growing and expanding the music technology minor in the Music department
    Expanding the current music technology minor into a major in Music Industry and Audio Production
    Teaching and helping develop courses related to diversity and equity, (eg. MUSC 320 Songs of Protest)
    Service to the department, college and university - through advising, recruitment, faculty committees, and community engagement; and
    Maintaining research/creative activity in music industry, digital music or recording technology
    Anticipated Hiring Salary Range: $6,916 - $7,333 per month

    CSU Classification Salary Range: $5,405 - $11,994 per month
