    Job Summary: Alumni Specialist will work with clients in Vision House Follow-up Program to gather statistical information regarding their housing and to provide on-going supportive services. The Alumni Specialist also fosters relationships with local landlords to identify housing opportunities for families exiting the Vision House program.

    This position is Full-time 40 hours, Non-exempt

    LOCATION: primary location in Renton, WA with weekly trips to Shoreline, WA.

    REPORTS TO: Family Transitions Director

    Our new Alumni Specialist will enjoy the following pay and benefits:

    • $20 - $22 per hour depending on experience

    An Alumni Specialists responsibilities are:

    • Partner with Case Managers at exit of residents from Vision House Family Services.
    • Use data base to provide information on current alumni contact information.
    • Make contact with and interview alumni on a regular basis, filling out surveys/matrix as needed.
    • Provide light Case Management that is Strength based, Trauma informed, Client driven and Housing Focused in order to sustain clients housing.
    • Assist clients with community resources and potential housing referrals along with updated information around Landlord Tenant law and relational support.
    • Utilize a harm reduction/housing first model when working with clients.
    • Address potential barriers to positive landlord communication.
    • Serve as an ongoing liaison between property managers and participants as well as between participants and neighbors maintaining consistent communication.
    • Provide mediation and advocacy with landlords on the clients behalf to develop a workable plan to obtain and /or maintain housing.
    • Partner with Housing Specialist to identify housing opportunities and recruit landlords to provide housing for individuals and families experiencing homelessness.
    • Conduct classes with Housing Specialist for residents who are getting ready to move to permanent housing.
    • Plan alumni support groups, bible study and holiday events
    • Maintain daily log records, monthly outcome reports, and files for each client.
    • Participate in Vision House Program team meetings, trainings, and collaboration around services.
    • Weekly supervision with Entry Team Supervisor.
    • Assume other responsibilities as assigned or required.

    Requirements

    Alumni Specialist candidates should have the following qualifications:

    • Bachelors Degree in Human Services preferred or a minimum of a two-year degree in Human related services combined with two years related experience
    • Workable knowledge of budgeting, employment readiness and housing resources
    • Understanding and/or experience with Motivational Interviewing
    • Strong communications skills: listening, oral and written and positive problem-solving
    • Possess strong organizational skills with ability to meet a demanding workload
    • Fluency in the English language, written and verbal, is required; Spanish speaking is desired
    • Sensitivity to cultural and socioeconomic characteristics of population served
    • Must be committed to empowering others to solve their own problems
    • The ability to establish and set appropriate limits with persons served to help them gain skills and confidence
    • The ability to work within a highly collaborative team environment and independently, with supervision
    • Familiarity with HUD
    • Experience with computer, working knowledge of MS Office, strong Excel skills
    • Must have a reliable transportation and a valid drivers license.
    • Must have the ability to work some evenings.
    • Ability to pass background check
    • Ability to sign our Statement of Faith
    • Working knowledge of Christ-centered servant leadership
