    Description

    Job Summary:

    • Provide direct nursing care to assigned patients independently of patient location, ensuring safe and quality patient care.
    • Promote a positive work environment, serving as a role model.
    • Adhere to department policies and procedures.
    • Minimum work requirement of two shifts per schedule, including one weekend shift per schedule and one winter and one summer holiday shift.
    • Patient care assignment may include Neonate, Pediatric, Adolescent, Adult and Geriatric age groups.

    Responsibilities:

    • Deliver safe direct care to an assigned group of patients.
    • Work within department, nursing division and hospital policies.
    • Collaborate with healthcare team to implement and document individualized care plans, incorporate age-specific considerations, and provide discharge planning and patient/family teaching.
    • Assist with special tests and procedures, securing proper consent.
    • Participate in orientation and training of new personnel.
    • Administer medication, including IV medication, adhere to Seven Rights, document and communicate clinical findings.
    • Maintain safe, comfortable, therapeutic environment for patients/families, according to hospital standards.
    • Enhance professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, meetings and workshops.
    • Follow patient safety-related policies and procedures.
    • Demonstrate proactive approach to patient safety by seeking opportunities to improve.
    • Identify, report and correct environmental conditions and/or situations that may put a patient at undue risk.
    • Report potential or actual patient safety concerns, medical errors and/or near misses.
    • Encourage patients to actively participate in their own care.
    • Adhere to and promote the core expectations of the Patient Centered Medical Home or Patient Centered Specialty Practice.

    Requirements:

    • Graduate from a nationally accredited nursing program.
    • Current RN license in New Mexico or as allowed by reciprocal agreement.
    • One year of directly related experience.
    • CPR, BLS, and PALS required.
    • TNCC and/or ENPC certification preferred, but not required.
    • Physical requirements exceed those for Medium Work.
    • Must wear PPE when in contact with biohazardous materials.
