- Provide direct nursing care to assigned patients independently of patient location, ensuring safe and quality patient care.
- Promote a positive work environment, serving as a role model.
- Adhere to department policies and procedures.
- Minimum work requirement of two shifts per schedule, including one weekend shift per schedule and one winter and one summer holiday shift.
- Patient care assignment may include Neonate, Pediatric, Adolescent, Adult and Geriatric age groups.
- Deliver safe direct care to an assigned group of patients.
- Work within department, nursing division and hospital policies.
- Collaborate with healthcare team to implement and document individualized care plans, incorporate age-specific considerations, and provide discharge planning and patient/family teaching.
- Assist with special tests and procedures, securing proper consent.
- Participate in orientation and training of new personnel.
- Administer medication, including IV medication, adhere to Seven Rights, document and communicate clinical findings.
- Maintain safe, comfortable, therapeutic environment for patients/families, according to hospital standards.
- Enhance professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, meetings and workshops.
- Follow patient safety-related policies and procedures.
- Demonstrate proactive approach to patient safety by seeking opportunities to improve.
- Identify, report and correct environmental conditions and/or situations that may put a patient at undue risk.
- Report potential or actual patient safety concerns, medical errors and/or near misses.
- Encourage patients to actively participate in their own care.
- Adhere to and promote the core expectations of the Patient Centered Medical Home or Patient Centered Specialty Practice.
- Graduate from a nationally accredited nursing program.
- Current RN license in New Mexico or as allowed by reciprocal agreement.
- One year of directly related experience.
- CPR, BLS, and PALS required.
- TNCC and/or ENPC certification preferred, but not required.
- Physical requirements exceed those for Medium Work.
- Must wear PPE when in contact with biohazardous materials.
