    Description

    General Summary of the Position:
    Responsible for operating lattice boom crawler crane. Applicants must pass a practical proficiency test. When not operating a crane, may also operate other construction equipment.


    Essential Functions:
    Unloading and assembling of crane with ground crew and mechanics.

    Utilizes basic skills as a hook operator in swinging rig, raising and lowering crane boom, raising and lowering load lines on the crane.

    Handles and places loads in a designated area in a safe and controlled manner.
    Assists in determining critical load plans and crane stability.

    Inspects crane daily prior to operation and keeps records of safety and operation checks in the provided crane field book.

    Recognizes safety concerns and problems in regards to worn cables, worn bands on hoisting mechanisms, broken gears, housing, operation safety of air hammer and/or vibrating hammer, and others.

    Work cooperatively with the crew to accomplish tasks;Maintain tools and equipment so that they are kept in good working order and are safe for use;Participate in training and other forms of development to strengthen technical, safety and other skills.

    Operate other construction equipment as required.
    Consistently monitor and maintain compliance with all safety policies, procedures and regulations.
    Maintain a clean and safe work environment to include equipment operated.
    Trains and mentors other workers on operating equipment, safety requirements and other construction processes.
    Other duties as required.


    Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
    Operation of lattice-boom hydraulic cranes with pile-driving experience is preferred but no required.
    Fully understand functions and operations of diesel and vibratory pile hammers.
    Be able to read, understand and use crane load charts.
    Rigging knowledge is a must. Be capable of successfully passing a crane operations certification test.
    Proven ability to work on heavy civil projects involving pile driving.
    Thorough knowledge of applicable safety precautions.
    Ability to work under general supervision according to work schedule.
    Ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency.
    Good communication skills to coordinate workflow with other crew members.


    Required Education, Training and Experience:
    NCCCO certification is required.
    Valid appropriate state driver's license (general operator license) required; Class A or B CDL strongly preferred.


    Work Environment:


    Regularly works near moving mechanical parts and in outside conditions that include inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust and asphalt.

    Requires good manual dexterity (hand, hand with arm, two hands) and multi-limb coordination.
    Noise level is generally loud.
