    Senior Underwriter, Los Angeles/San Francisco (CA, United States)

    Angove Partners is working with an MGA that focuses on high-value residential and E&S Property in California.

    We are looking for entrepreneurially driven individuals to contribute to the overall success of this climate-resilient insurance platform, dedicated to the Californian and broader US markets.


    About the role:
    You will play a crucial role in assessing and underwriting risks within the Californian High Value Residential market.

    Leveraging your expertise, you will contribute to the development of customized insurance programs, ensuring that clients receive comprehensive coverage, tailored to their unique needs.


    Responsibilities include:


    Develop and execute the underwriting strategy from the ground up, leveraging all available best-in-class tools for risk reduction and selection.

    Work closely with brokers, customers and other stakeholders to gather necessary information and assess risk profiles.
    Ability to price risks.

    Build a quality, high performing E&S property portfolio from the ground up, ensuring the best technical underwriting standards for high value homeowners.

    Execute a well-diversified aggregate tail risk management strategy, in partnership with our pricing/risk team.
    Develop and maintain strong relationships with brokers and clients, providing expert guidance on risk mitigation and insurance solutions.
    Participate in the development of new insurance products or enhancements to existing products, keeping abreast of industry advancements.
    Contribute to the effective management of the underwriting portfolio, including monitoring and analysing performance measures.


    About you:
    Proven underwriting experience, particularly in high value residential property.
    Exposure to surplus lines underwriting.
    Exceptional analytical capabilities, with the ability to leverage data and new technology.

    A desire to build from zero to scale, and a willingness to step into any problem to help the team achieve its ambitious goals as one.

    Underwriting region is California/ West Coast.
    Based in San Francisco/ Los Angeles or in the wider California region.
