    Position Summary

    The Director of Engineering forms part of the Hotel Leadership team who is responsible for leading a team of Engineers and Painters in maintaining hotel facilities, including building structure, mechanical, electrical and HVAC systems in accordance with safety guidelines and preventative maintenance requirements.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    Functions as the Strategic Business Leader of the hotel's engineering operations and oversees the development and implementation of departmental strategies that ensures the hotel structure and maintenance systems are in safe working order in accordance with OSHA and company requirements.

    Responsible for forecasting and generating department's annual budget while considering hotel renovations and other development projects on site. Develop initiatives to maintain effective cost controls and maintain labor efficiency ratios to ensure guest service and cost effectiveness.
    Responsible for P&L performance of the Engineering department.
    Oversees the daily direction of engineering staff through morning briefings and delegation of assignments.
    Adhere to all corporate-required purchasing policies and controls, including, but not limited to, budget, schedules, outside contractors' bids. Follow prescribe safety procedures for personnel and equipment by the company and OSHA.

    Manage and report on expenses (payroll + supplies) to aid in controlling costs while ensuring adequate staff and supplies are on hand to provide quality service.

    Maintain accuracy and thoroughness on various reporting requested on a daily, weekly or monthly basis.
    Oversees the preparation of departmental schedules according to business forecast, payroll budget guidelines and productivity requirements.

Knowledge of plumbing and electrical systems. Ability to obtain and/or maintain any necessary government required licenses, certificates or permits.
    Education and Work Experience
    Bachelor's Degree in related field preferred
    5+ years of Engineering experience in a leadership role
    Hotel experience preferred

    Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, Engineering staff may be required to work varying schedules to reflect the business needs of the hotel, including overtime and changing hours.
