    Position Overview:

    The agency's Mid-Hudson Region permanency resource center ("PRC" or "center") is designed to support and deliver specialized services to post-adoption, post-guardianship, and kinship caregiving families.

    [The center currently includes contracting for Columbia, Greene, Ulster, and Delaware counties.]

    With the guidance of St. Catherine's Director of Foster Care and Kinship Services, the Assistant Program Coordinator is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Mid-Hudson permanency resource center. Partnering with the foster care director, the Assistant Program Coordinator ensures active outreach in the community and a solid referral stream, supervises other positions in the program as directed, manages cases, and administers and coordinates the logistics of the parent education classes, support groups, educational events, respite care, and family engagement activities.

    Duties & Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

    • Oversees the delivery of services and program operations; responsible for the center's day-to-day productivity, at the direction of the foster care director.
    • Manages a caseload of families, depending on workforce issues and the capabilities of the program's case managers, to ensure the program meets all performance targets.
    • In a case management role, completes monthly face-to-face contacts with the families in their homes, completing all required case documentation, including various assessment forms and service plans.
    • Provides 1:1 counseling sessions as needed; incorporates trauma-informed support and motivational interviewing into the program milieu.
    • In a lead role, facilitates the program's design and delivery of parent education sessions, educational events, pro-social respite activities, and family engagement.
    • Participates in administrative duties, such as processing program payroll, and completing reports required by the State, at the direction of the foster care director.
    • As a part of community outreach, creates presentations and other material; delivers those presentations to community groups and local organizations in various targeted communities.
    • Leads a team of personnel in facilitating parenting education sessions, utilizing the Parenting a Second Time Around curriculum, or other training materials, as directed.
    • Safely transports community members and/or their children in the delivery of program services, to address basic transportation needs, or to meet the families' other social needs linked to service goal attainment.
    • Actively communicates program information, concerns, needs, and progress to the Director of Foster Care and Kinship Services.
    • Completes additional position-related duties and responsibilities, as assigned by the agency's foster care director.

    Organizational Relationships:

    • The Assistant Program Coordinator is supervised by the Director of Foster Care and Kinship Services.
    • The Assistant Program Coordinator provides supervision for other personnel in the program, at the direction of the foster care director.
    • In conjunction with the training department leadership, ensures the provision of orientation and on-going training for staff; ensures that staff members actively participate in all required training sessions and are supported in their field work.
    • The Assistant Program Coordinator works closely with all other personnel in the program and other agency personnel in providing a continuum of services to the designated communities served by the permanency resource center.
    • The Assistant Program Coordinator, at the direction of the foster care director, works collaboratively with regulatory agencies, county social service departments, local school district staff, and other community partners.

    Position Specifications/Requirements:

    • Bachelor's Degree in Human Services or related field, required.
    • At least three years of experience working with at-risk families and in community services.
    • Minimum of one year of experience in a supervisory and program management role.
    • Familiarity with kinship navigation and adoption oversight (both state and national regulations), preferred.
    • Familiarity with wraparound services and implementation in a family-centered system of care, preferred.
    • Prior knowledge of mental health, juvenile justice, and prevention programming.
    • Strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to build strong working relationships with regulatory bodies.
    • Solid written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly and enthusiastically deliver the program's educational sessions for program participants.
    • Clean and valid New York State driver's license; actively licensed for at least one (1) year, with a reliable vehicle to transport program participants if needed.
    • Proficiency in various computer applications: Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Google Business Workspace Suite (Gmail, Google Docs, Meet, Sheets, etc.); and secure Internet practices.
    • Comfortable working with and relating to culturally diverse and economically disadvantaged populations; ability to exhibit empathy for those in need, supporting their growth and service plan goal achievement.
    • Ability to pass required pre-employment background checks, including fingerprinting, is required.
